Lisbeth Scott's "Hope Is A Thing" Release

SINGER LISBETH SCOTT RELEASES NEW INNOVATIVE PHOTO CAMPAIGN "HOPE IS A THING", TO BENEFIT CHILDREN'S CHARITY "EDUCATION THROUGH MUSIC"

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Lisbeth Scott's new album, "Hope is a Thing," is set to be released on November 10th.   The new album will be available for sale on iTunes, Amazon.com, and all digital outlets as well as select venues nationwide.   The disc features several collaborations with well-known composers (Harry Gregson-Williams, Nathan Barr) as well as two stirring new covers (Imagine, Hallelujah).  Distributed by BFM Digital, Inc., "Hope is a Thing" will also feature two all-new music videos for the title track "Hope is a Thing" and "Good to Me" (originally from the 2008 film "Shutter"). During this challenging economic time, Scott wanted to create a musical and visual collection that would remind people of the importance of hanging on to hopes and dreams and the simple, non-material things that open our hearts and bring us joy.  Thus the music and video of "Hope Is a Thing" was born.  Lisbeth also feels these concepts are often best demonstrated through innocent, youthful eyes, so along-side the album release comes the launch of an innovative web-based world-wide campaign featuring children of all backgrounds and ethnicities who express what it is they hope for in today's world via the simple image of holding up a hand-created sign.  The first phase of the campaign can be seen at www.hopeisathing.com, in the "Gallery" section.  Over the next several weeks, children and schools from all over the world are encouraged to upload their own signs and photos to help boost the awareness of the campaign, as well as the exciting prospect of being featured in the actual music video. The highly-anticipated music video will be directed by Joseph Greco (Canvas) and shot by Academy-award winning cinematographer Haskell Wexler, who shot such legendary films "Bound for Glory", "American Graffiti", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "The Thomas Crown Affair" and many more.  The video aims to give children a voice and focus on the power of hope and vision. Following in the spirit of the campaign, a portion of proceeds of Scott's album will go directly to the organization "Education Through Music", who's mission statement reads, "At ETM, we believe every child deserves a well-rounded education… one that includes music both as a subject in its own right and as a means of supporting learning in other areas."

Scott will be promoting her new album at several upcoming appearances:  11/7 and 11/8 for the official CD and video release parties in LA at the Edgemar Theater in Santa Monica (www.edgemarcenter.org).  The 11/8 show is all ages and children are encouraged to bring their own "I hope for…" signs.  11/20 finds Scott in Northern California  with a performance at Berkeley's Rudramandir - a center for spirituality and healing. The daughter of two award winning ball room dancers, Lisbeth Scott was raised as a classical pianist, rehearsing hours a day and headed for a concert career.  She studied at The New England Conservatory, Connecticut College and The University of London throughout the 1990's. Lisbeth decided to head out to Los Angeles where she really began to discover her voice... as did the film world. Scott's vocals can be heard on over 50 blockbuster films including "The Passion of the Christ," "Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe," "Shrek 1 and 2", and Steven Spielberg's "Munich" in which legendary composer, John Williams wrote a five minute solo specifically for her.  Meanwhile, Scott recorded and produced four prior albums of her solo work, two of which were named "Album of the Year" by New Age Voice.  Scott has teamed up with Greg Ellis to form the duo, Biomusique, which won best new artist and vocal album in The New Age Reporter Awards for 2008. True Blood Needs Your Vote in the 2009 TV DVD Awards

It is time for the Sixth Annual TV DVD Awards. This is not one of those awards that comes with a big, glitzy awards show, but True Blood needs us and I know the fans won't let them down. Voting began November 2nd and will run through November 20th. The winners will be announced in December. True Blood Season One DVD is up for Best Current Series. VIDEO: Charlaine Harris Interviewed at BoucherCon 2009 - Part 2

Charlaine Harris attended the 40th BoucherCon World Mystery Convention 2009 at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis where she was a panel member at the convention.  BoucherCon is the world's largest annual meeting for the mystery genre.  While she was at the convention, Charlaine sat down with Reel Deal's Austin Luger to talk about her writing, about Alan Ball's True Blood HBO vampire series based on her books, and about how she's handled her increased fame now that the show has become so wildly popular. Ten Reasons Why We Love Vampires!

Vampires have always been a popular genre, from the days of Nosferatu,  Dracula, Anne Rice's vampires, and right up to the modern day: from the zeitgeist kick started by Charlaine Harris and Stephanie Meyer, right up to cinema's latest offering, "The Vampire's Assistant."  But what is it that people find so compelling about the subject?  Lets have a look at some of the key programs and characters that have appeared lately... True Blood has to be top of the list, especially for fans of our website!  Taken by Alan Ball from the hit series of books penned by Charlaine Harris with fans eagerly awaiting the tenth book in the series, this show is now heading into its third season on HBO, which already shows it has massive ratings and critical success in a time where shows have been canceled after two or three episodes.  This is due in large part to the sheer skill and force behind the series - fantastic actors, incredible writing, and extraordinary production values, which all contribute to making this show the massive draw that it is today. The Vampire Diaries - True Blood for teens, but don't let that put you off!  Taken from another set of books by L.J Smith, this is the story of a young girl torn between two brother vampires, one good and one evil... but who will win Elena's heart? Kristen Stewart - The female breakout star of Twilight; we get to watch her portray the struggle of a human in love with a vampire, with all the Sturm und Drang of their relationship continuing on in the next release of the installment, New Moon, which is released on 20th November... Lesbian Vampire Killers - Vampirism's answer to the Zombie hit Shawn of the Dead; it hasn't reached the same heights of success, but has proven to be an cult comedy hit, helping to 'feed' the interest in the vampire genre... Dead and Lonely - a new web series that has just premiered at ifc.com on the 26th October, revolves around two lonely singles from Los Angeles who meet through DateOrDie.net, a popular dating website.  The twist in this tale is that one of the singletons not only has a lonely heart, they also have an unbeating one! Stephanie Meyer - the author of the Twilight saga, and arguably one of the main forces for bringing vampires into the forefront of today's popularity boom, penned her saga after she dreamt the whole story... A magical start to a magical story! Alexander Skarsgard - This handsome Swede plays Eric, the Sheriff of Area 5 in Louisiana, the bad boy who also attracts - and is attracted to - Sookie and Bill's competitor.  Mr. Skarsgard's prescence has helped raise the already steamy temperature in Bon Temps. Many fans of the show look forward to seeing the viking vampire and the possible intrigue he will bring on screen. Robert Pattinson - The male breakout star of Twilight, the reluctant British sex symbol has become the one to watch, pulling in massive crowds eager to see him play Edward Cullen, Bella's vampire lover.  Not too shabby for the boy who first became known through a supporting part in the Harry Potter films; its from one set of blockbusters to another for Mr. Pattinson... Anna Paquin - The embodiment of Sookie Stackhouse, Anna is the heart of True Blood, relatable and a touchstone of reality in the fantastic world of Bon Temps.  Although not without skills and talents of her own (most significantly, telepathy), she brings courage, humanity, and light to a show, which otherwise may become immeasurably dark and foreboding.  When watching a show like True Blood, its nice to have a character who is experiencing the same wonder and discovery as ourselves, the viewers. Steven Moyer - Like Tom Cruise managed to do in the 90s, this decade Stephen Moyer, the male lead on True Blood, has infused elegance and gentlemanly regal into his role as Bill.  A vampire who has returned to his birthplace of Bon Temps to live a peaceful life with his human lover Sookie. However, Bon Temps seems to be a place of turbulence and Bill's desire for peace has been disrupted once again, this time with dangerous consequences for himself as he has been kidnapped by unknown forces. Like Sookie, we all are asking "Bill?" No matter what type of vampire you enjoy watching or reading, there is plenty of new interpretations and adaptations to satisfy any vampire fan! PHOTOS: Alexander Skarsgard's New Movie "Beyond The Pole"

As many True Blood fans are aware, Alexander Skarsgard stars in the film entitled "Beyond The Pole," a comedy mock documentary with Stephen Mangan, who plays a role a an environmental crusader. The British film is set to be released sometime in 2009 with Alexander playing the role of Terje. Over the weekend some amazing photos have surfaced from the set of the movie that are quite incredible and really worth taking a look at. There are nearly one hundred photographs to intrigue you so it was difficult which to feature her because they are spectacular. Enjoy them because I was truly mesmerized!

True Blood's Dr. Ludwig, Marcia deRousse To Appear At The House Of Besarab

The House of Besarab Will Welcome a Quartet of Noted Psychic Mediums on Opening Night Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009  Including Marcia deRousse

It is said that the Hollywood American Legion Post on Highland Avenue near the Hollywood Bowl, the imposing 33,000-sq.ft. Egyptian Revival-Moroccan Deco edifice where the environmental play Tamara debuted in 1983 and broke all records by holding court there through 1994, has also long been home to wanderers from beyond. Now, as Terance Duddy and Theodore Ott's all-new take on the legend of Dracula, THE HOUSE OF BESARAB, prepares to breathe an air of spooky paranormal activity back into one of Los Angeles' most significant cultural monuments when it debuts there on Thursday, Nov. 12, four noted psychic-medium practitioners with a specialized penchant for raising the dead will join the opening night revelers to travel from incredible room to incredible room along with the other more earthly-bound audience members who will be shadowing the actors in this unique site-specific adventure that brings the unique experience of Tamara back to Los Angeles theatregoers.

THE HOUSE OF BESARAB's special spiritually-inclined opening night guests include psychic actress Marcia deRousse, so memorable in her current run as the über-scary Dr. Ludwig on the hit HBO TV series True Blood; married mediums Michael and Marti Parry; and clairvoyant Donna D'Amore, author and proprietor of the Heart & Soul Healing Arts Center in Pasadena.

Marcia deRousse, the diminutive "f"-bomb spouting vampiric expert on True Blood, whose portrayal of Dr. Ludwig has generated such fan interest that a popular fan written parody column has sprung up on the True Blood website, TrueBloodNet.com featuring "Ask Dr. L," plied her more mystical wares as the star of the TV series pilot Small Medium at Large, among many roles on television series. She was the mother of Matthew McConoughey and Gary Oldman in the feature film Tiptoes and worked on Highway to Heaven with Michael Landon, someone she believes to now be one of her spirit guides. Recently onstage she was runner-up for Best Actress for The Sugar Bean Sisters at Sierra Madre Playhouse in Entertainment Today's annual Ticketholder Awards and appeared opposite THE HOUSE OF BESARAB's Dr. Van Helsing, Travis Holder, in the west coast premiere of Charles Mee's Summertime at Theatre @ Boston Court.

Miss deRousse explains, "I have been a psychic medium since I was a kid, and 'talked' to my spirit guides every night when I went to bed. Then when my grandma died, I was sure it was a mistake that everyone was crying beside her grave, because she was standing there winking at me saying, 'I'm OK, honey… I'm right here.'" THE HOUSE OF BESARAB, which will be a much-needed benefit for the American Legion, is being produced and directed by Mr. Duddy under an Actors Equity Association Hollywood Area Theatre (H.A.T.) contract and stars Michael Hegedus as the suave but menacing Count Dracula alongside veteran Equity actors David Himes as Renfield, Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Best Actor Award winner Travis Michael Holder as Dr. Van Helsing, Chase McKenna as Mina, and Dane Bowman as Jonathan Harker. Also featured are Terra Shelman as Dr. Seward, Jason Parsons as the resident wolf-hybrid, Miliza Milo as the gypsy woman, and Megan Harwick and Sara Spink as the Count's buxom pregnant vixens.

THE HOUSE OF BESARAB opens Thursday, Nov. 12 playing host to its psychic guests, and will continue to play Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 9pm and Sundays at 8pm through Sunday, Dec. 20 at The Hollywood American Legion Post 43, located at 2035 N. Highland Av. in Hollywood, halfway between Franklin Avenue and the Hollywood Bowl. General admission is $40.00 (on-site parking is $5.00), or the special $55.00 package includes parking, one cocktail and hors d'oeuvres at intermission.
