Stephen Moyer of True Blood took time out of his busy schedule to participate in the Australian Bush Fire Relief "Footy and Meat Pies" Charity Event on Saturday, February 28, 2009. The event was organized by Anthony LaPaglia to raise funds to help the many people who have been devastated by the bush fires that have ripped through Victoria, Australia. Mr. LaPaglia co-ordinated the fundraiser through his Californian soccer club Hollywood United and called on local Austalian and American celebrities and current and former pro soccer players to come out to Pacific Palisades to play a 7 person per side soccer tournament.
"When we started to see all of the images coming through from the Victorian fires, I just thought this is what were here for, this is what we do," he said. It was terrible to see entire towns wiped out and to see images of cars burnt to a crisp trying to get out just horrifying images. Without hesitation, people - world-class soccer players and celebrities not just from Australia but from America and Britain too - put up their hands to use their profile to help."
