Five Women Wearing The Same Dress, written by True Blood's creator, Alan Ball, will be presented by the Kirby Theater Company at the Duo Theatre, 62 East 4th Street, New York, New York. Previews will begin on Oct. 29 and performances run from Nov. 5 through Nov. 22 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m.). Five Women Wearing The Same Dress is a comedy-drama about five bridesmaids in a Knoxville, Tenn., mansion. The play was written by Alan Ball long before winning an Oscar for his exemplary work in American Beauty and before creating his HBO hit shows - Six Feet Under and True Blood. In the play, the bridesmaids escape from the reception and go to a bedroom upstairs. Sisterhood, lost dreams and dark secrets are all explored together by the characters while notably making hilarious observations on life, love, sex, marriage and religion. It showcases Alan Ball's character ingenuity in using a single phrase to turn comedy into drama and vice versa. The show is produced by Krissy Garber and Lauren Schacher and directed by John Gallagher.
