Stephen Moyer Talks About Romance

Stephen Moyer was interviewed by Redbook and briefly touched on the subject of romance -  both on and off the screen - with his True Blood and real-life co-star, Anna Paquin. As he has stated before in so many interviews, his chemistry with Anna started during the filming of the series pilot.  Being strangers to Los Angeles, they stayed in the same hotel and dined together almost every night.  After the filming they went their separate ways and discovered they really missed eachother.  And the romance began. But that's off-screen.  What about their chemistry on-screen?  Stephen joked that "Everybody on set now gets to see what goes on behind closed doors.  We leave nothing to the imagination!"  He said that his love scenes with Anna work very well and that because their relationship is out in the open, there is less tension than usual when two actors "who are just getting to know each other engage in an intimate scene". Playing romantic vampire Bill Compton, surely Stephen can give some advice on how vampires so successfully sweep women off their feet.  He does.
"Vampires are so old that they don't need to impress anyone anymore.  They're comfortable in their own skin.  It's this enigmatic strength that's very romantic and old-fashioned.  I think it goes back to something of a Victorian attitude of finding a strong man who's going to look after his woman."
Does Stephen follow his own advice?  How does he romance Anna?  It helps that they have a lot of things in common.  Stephen said great food and music are the basis for the romance.  Taking walks at night with their dogs, one of their favorite things to do is to sit on the beach.
Additionally, Anna has taught Stephen about honesty in a relationship.  "You know, men would much rather run away than talk about stuff, and my default setting has always been, If you have an argument, walk out the door."
But Anna is a tough cookie and won't let him walk out.  They talk out their disagreements and, even if the truth may be hurtful, get it on the table. "Ultimate honesty is what a relationship is really about." Source:  redbookmag.com (Photo credit - fanpix.net)
