Stephen Moyer on the Cover of Entertainment Weekly Vampire Edition
The traditional vampire story, with monsters and victims, chases and chills, is more plain fun, ... but they can often reveal the general state of the cultural psyche." Vampires are such versatile symbols now that they can express both conservative and liberal views. Stephenie Meyer's Twilight novels are steeped in her Mormon values. But True Blood speaks in part for gays and, as Ball puts it, "eight years of institutionalized demonization of pretty much any group that wasn't on the bus with Mr. Bush."The Vampire edition of Entertainment Weekly is on newsstand July 31. Alan Ball's True Blood Renewed by HBO for 3rd Season!
HBO announced the renewal of its entire summer original programming lineup, ordering another round of freshman comedy "Hung," veteran comedy "Entourage" and hit vampire drama "True Blood."With ratings numbers like these for last week's episode, "Hard-Hearted Hannah" is there any doubt that it would be renewed?:
True Blood (9:03pm, 50 minutes) - 4.0 million viewers - 2.4/4 HH - 2.0/6 A18-49?At a wild guess, HBO was waiting for a decision on "Hung" in order to decide if they whole line up could be announced at once. According to THR:
"True Blood" has averaged 3.8 million viewers (11.2 when you add repeats, DVR and On Demand viewing), "Hung" has averaged 3.1 million (10.2 million cume) and "Entourage" brings in about 3.0 million (7.4 million cume). But you can't really 'average' a series whose numbers are climbing weekly. Oddly, those numbers would have shot True Blood into the top 20 cable shows nestling in between 'The Food Network Star 5" and one of the million "Spongebob"s except they only list the 'advertising supported shows'
Top 20 advertiser supported cable network television shows for the week ending July 26, 2009:Congratulations to Alan and all the hard working, talented and wonderful cast and crew (and behind the scenes folks) who make True Blood the best show on TV! [Editor's Note: Not that I'm prejudiced or anything...] Congratulations to HBO for a winning Sunday lineup. But most of all, YAAAY FOR US, THE FANS! We get another year of incredible TV. Season 2: Episode 6 - "Hard-Hearted Hannah"
1. Hoyt's courtship of Jessica. Their innocent awkward interaction is too cute beyond words.
2. Eric's growing interest in Sookie – lets face it, after that hair cut he may just trump Bill in looks department.
3. Jason Stackhouse's cringe-worthy attempt at song writing.
4. Sookie, Hugo, Steve and the body guard trapped in the basement with Godric. What has happened? Will Jason help them? So many exciting conclusions to wait for.
5. Love a good 1920s speak easy, "Maybe after your guests leave we can F*** prohibition together." And in a way, they did.
Editor's 2 cents:- We agree on Jessica and Hoyt. They are just totally sweet.
- The scene in the kitchen with the hot water heater broken. Maryann can't hide her hedonism, Eggs was being over-easy again in that outfit and did Tara actually apologize for being snarky???
- Anything Sam. Seriously he keeps forcing me to forget he's cute and notice he's talented. Great job Sam o' the Sam.
- The Andy, Terry, Lafayette triage in the kitchen. I'm just not sure if I was supposed to be laughing so hard at the 'hallucination' but I was loving the Terry-care. Hug Lafayette once for me!
- "Do Bad Things With You" intro. Seriously, Every week I enjoy the heck out of this sequence and find it impossible to sit still!

Deborah Ann Woll In The August Issue Of H Magazine
"Research is a great tool. The more I know about my surroundings and the situations I am in the more creative I can be. So there is the culture of Louisiana, the primal vampire animalistic qualities, the awkward home schooled teenager syndrome. Even sometimes looking up precisely what a word means can be very eye opening. For instance Anger is not an emotion I access as easily as others, so when I was called upon in the script to become very angry I looked up the word in a dictionary. The definition that struck me the most talked about "righting an injustice" or "teaching someone a lesson". That was something I understood very clearly. If I felt someone was treating me or others without respect I could desire very strongly to teach them a lesson. Right away my experience was more specific to the moment than just playing "angry."To read the interview and to enjoy the wonderful pictures click the link here.

True Blood Season 2: Latest Spoiler Tidbits
"I don't think I'm that affected by the show because those are past books that the current plot is kind of hooked to, and I'm way beyond that now. Things have changed. Eric [Alexander Skarsgård] has a completely different maker from the maker on the show. There are all kinds of changes. But I hope that you all see it as a great opportunity to have two different entertainment experiences." She also noted that she doesn't get involved with the True Blood scripts: "We have a working relationship, [show runner] Alan [Ball] and I. I don't tell him how to make the show, and he doesn't tell me how to write the books."In other news, episode 12 has has finally been named and will be entitled, "Before The Night Is Over." According to a report from Stacy Plaisance from Associated Press, the finale episode of True Blood that was recently shot in Louisiana featured the Jerry Lee Lewis song, "Before the Night is Over":
"The sequence shot on this day was a dance scene. Paquin, in a sundress with her hair in a sleek up-do, and Moyer in black suit, do a modified jitterbug to the Jerry Lee Lewis song "Before the Night Is Over." Between takes, the actors chill out in a back room at the B&B where stylists touch up their makeup."True Blood has definitely glamored the masses and has them mesmerized into needing to know what is going to happen next. All that True Blood fans can do is wait anxiously each week as we get closer to the season finale and wonder how will they survive the long wait for season 3. True Blood Brings Shape Shifting Infusion To TV
HOLLYWOOD—"True Blood" started Sunday night's episode titled "Never Let Me Go" with my favorite actress and character on the series, Ashley Jones as Daphne. The previous episode showcased Sam and Daphne in a warm embrace, with her whispering in his ear, "I know what you are." From one shape shifter to another I suppose.
Daphne had her fans on the Official "True Blood" Fan Page. Kurt Stennett said, "'True Blood' just started and Daphne's already naked, Woo! Hoo! And apparently she can shape shift like Sam." By the end of the episode the two were back in a sensual embrace which had fans joking that Daphne, like Sookie seems to always be having sex. But that's HBO.
Before the show even started fans were raving about the series on the "TB" Facebook page. Christie Walters stated, "Oh my gosh, 'TB' is the best show that HBO has ever come up with. We actually have parties every Sunday and then we all pile up in the living room to watch the show and it gets better every week." While Bathsheba Cohen exclaimed online, "This show makes my Sunday night, and the fix lasts until Thursday. I watch and analyze the episodes over and over again. I find myself watching it on demand and catching it when it comes on again. I am a 'True Blood' addict."
Last week I speculated and wondered about what Daphne was. A shape shifter, I have to say, is a surprise for me. Ashley Jones kept mum when I recently interviewed her about what storyline was coming up on "True Blood" and on "The Bold and the Beautiful." Fan Jovita Williams said it best, "When the heck is Sam going to ask about those claw marks on Daphne's back?" Because even with the reveal Sunday night that Daphne's a shape shifter, who can turn into a deer, inquiring minds want to know what happened that caused such horrific scars on her back. Sam however is preoccupied with the sexy beauty in other ways right now, so questions are the last thing on his mind. Jones and Sam Trammell who plays Sam Merlotte have such an interesting on screen chemistry. They seem to be toying with each other but the sexual tension just keeps building. So does Daphne's mystery.
Stephen Moyer as Bill and Anna Paquin as Sookie remain the most talked about couple on the hit series. Lorna Berliner was quick to say, "Bill's maker is back! Planning all kinds of trouble for Bill and Sookie. If the plot gets any thicker, I'll explode." Lynn Dougherty shared the same feelings about Bill and Sookie that I keep thinking. "I loved the interaction with Bill and Sookie. Bill seems very worried though." Said Lynn.
And the plot sure thickened. Tonight Sookie and Bill were still in Dallas trying to find the missing vampire, Godric, who is Eric's maker. But along the way Sookie ran into one of her own, a mind reader. Things did heat up a bit when Eric arrived in Dallas and finally we were given his history as a vampire. Lynn Dougherty agreed, "I was glad that we finally learned who made Eric a vampire and how he was made."
Don't count out Jason Stackhouse. Just because the character's not the brightest bulb in the chandelier doesn't mean he's not a lot of fun. Handsome Australian actor Ryan Kwanten portrays the not so bright Jason with almost a comedic twist on the sometimes dramatic storyline he's involved in. When he was in the bathtub and the preacher's wife was giving him scripture and telling him that after his trials and hard times, that he should let her bring joy back into his life, the goofy expression on Kwanten's face was worth gold. It was just as funny as his line in the episode, "Praise His Light!" Seems the preacher's wife is a lot more than just temptation. Surely she's going to play a major role in Jason's future. And what's going to happen when the Reverend finds out about his wife's lustful feelings for one of his parishioners?
While Rutina Wesley who plays Tara did not get very much screen time, the actress has a real knack for making the most out of her scenes. When she asked her lover Eggs what was between him and MaryAnn, you could tell Tara knew that she was not getting the real story and Wesley has a unique ability to play the heroine with expert ease. Almost all of the fans felt they wanted to see more of her, but also concluded that she'd be a match for MaryAnn once it was revealed who and what MaryAnn truly is.
Though this episode was not as action packed as the previous two, it did help move the story along. Eric played by Alexander Skarsgard finally was fleshed out so to speak to viewers and we are closer to finding out more about MaryAnn, while Lafayette is ripe for future storytelling on the series. Michelle Walker however manages to get what the writers and producers have in mind. She stated, "this is my favorite show. They have changed the show's storylines just enough to keep the people who read the books on their toes."

Alexander Skarsgard: No "Sock" Required
"During the first three years, Alex lived on a couch at a friend's in Hollywood. "I fought hard for the roles, just as so many others and many of my talented friends here are still trying to; I realize how fortunate I am."In a brief paragraph the interviewer provides some background on Alexander's recent and rising success:
"Alexander started with" Generation Kill" about a group of U.S. Marine Corps soldiers during the invasion of Iraq." True Blood" will lift him even higher. He loves the series' the mix of sex, desire and danger of the impermissible."In regards to Alexander's feelings about his character Eric Northman on True Blood:
"There is an attraction; it's easy to go wrong. Eric is not as crazy as many think, but he has a strong will and can justify his actions."Alexander also spoke candidly on his feelings on nudity:
"For me, it is no big deal, I've been naked in other roles I have in the past both in the theater and in films. Here they wanted to test everything from a sock to body-colored mini underwear, but it just felt weird. I prefer to be naked instead. So long as you and your co-star know how t works, it is okay and we are a tight bunch that makes this series."There is some hint that Alexander has an upcoming nude scene and will have sex with someone on True Blood but Alexander refused to go into details. We will just have to keep on watching True Blood to find out. When he was asked if he was surprised at his success Alexander simply responded:
"No, not at all."SOURCE: expressen.se (photo credit: Thomas Engström) [Editor's note: This article was translated using Google Translate. Also I would like to thank The Vault for finding and linking the original article so we could also share it with you]
