True Blood Season 3 Spoiler: Alan Ball Reveals Plotlines

Alan-Ball-TV-Guide-MagazineAlan Ball recently spoke with TVGuide Magazine and explained in-depth what fans can expect to see when True Blood returns for season 3 in June.  Alan states that the cast and the crew are really excited to come back for season 3 and promises that the sexy vampire thriller will "just stays big and weird and fun."  Alan explains that if you think that the suspense and drama is over now that Maryann is gone and Bon Temps is getting back to normal, think again.
"After last season you would think things would sort of return to normal – but no, that's not going to happen!" No, there's just as much weird stuff out there, and we're going to meet some werewolves for the first time; we're going to find out some roles vampires played in history, which is interesting and shocking and funny. It's more of the same."
Alan is currently looking at pictures for locations and models for new sets and props and has the first four scripts in first draft right now.
"I have four scripts that I am going, four first drafts, and I'm going over them and making some revisions with the writing staff, and we've already cast a major role: the vampire king of Mississippi, who's going to be played by Dennis O'Hare, which I'm very, very excited about."
While the bumping relationship between Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) will still be front and center, Alan explains that some of the supporting will be getting more screen time this season.  In Alan's own words he said that:
"Definitely Eric has broken out and is a big important character now. Jessica and Hoyt are still trying to deal with everything that happened to them, and Arlene and Terry are going to have a little bit more of a life and more of a presence on the show."
Also there will be guest appearances by Evan Rachel Wood as the vampire queen of Louisiana (Queen Sophie-Anne) and perhaps by Zeljko Ivanek, (the Magister in Season 1) as well as alot of, as Alan puts it "fun new characters." Sam Trammell, (Sam Merlotte) states that for Season 3 his character is:
"going to explore my relatives and the sort of sketchy, shapeshifter-y people in my family, and that's going to be more torture for Sam. I'm sure they're not going to be good people." But will Sam's still-burning torch for Sookie also be a source of torment? "Well, I hope he still has a shot with Sookie, but who knows? Probably not."
Sam voiced what the many actors felt at the end of Season 2.  That they were all completely surprised by the ratings and the number of viewers tuning into True Blood.  As a result everybody is really "psyched" to return to start shooting season 3 beginning on Dec. 3.
"We couldn't believe the numbers that we got," he said. "We were just sort of stunned. Yeah, we were kind of working in a bubble for most of last year and certainly year one, because it hadn't come out. And now we know that people are really into it and on board, so we're psyched to see they've written."
As Alan and his writers sit down to script the episodes he states that they haven't been overly stressed out about how to keep the excitement going since they are using Charlaine Harris' fantastic books as a template to get a head start in setting up the plotlines.  As Alan states:
"It's not like we have a blank slate and say 'Oh my God, what are we going to do?' So we're using book three as the model for Season 3. And there's nine of them and she publishes one every year, so I feel like 'Just keep 'em comin'."
At the end of the interview Alan discusses Stephen and Anna and his reaction when he first found out about their real-life romance and how he was a little worried but is now thrilled that they have a sold relationship and are engaged.  Anna stated to him at a party after he commented on how fantastic she looked that:
"Well, I'm happy, and happier than I've ever been in my life and a lot of it is thanks to you."
Alan states that it is wonderful to know that and he is so pleased to be working with such a great cast and crew where everybody is happy and enjoys working on the show.  True Blood fans are also lucky to have Alan Ball and the fantastic cast and crew to provide for us with such great entertainment that hasn't been on presented on television in a long time. Season 3 cannot come soon enough. SOURCE:  TVGuide Magazine Photo credit: Roger Karnbad/Celebrity Photo via TVGuide Magazine)
