Everyone has heard the story of some child stars—they're so cute as the children we see in movies and on TV, but then they're no longer in the spotlight and most people have no idea what happened. That disappearing act doesn't always happen, though. There are a few stars who are even more famous now, as adults, than they were as child stars. Anna Paquin is one of those lucky few who didn't get stuck being famous for being a cute child. Of course, pretty much everyone knows nowadays that at the tender age of 11, Anna won an Oscar for playing Flora McGrath in The Piano, making her the second youngest child to ever win the coveted award. She, and very few others, could get past that designation. Thanks to Anna's continued work, even as she grew into the beautiful and talented woman she is now, Anna soared past expectations that she'd remain a child star and not move into the world of adult actors. Entertainment Weekly recently put together a list of 13 child stars who made the jump from child star to adult star, and Anna was put at number 7 on their list. Other actors included in the list were the effervescent Neil Patrick Harris, Drew Barrymore, Jodie Foster, Ryan Gosling, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Natalie Portman. Each of these stars were cute, and great talents as kids, and though the paths some of their lives led rocky, they all survived adolescence and came out as incredibly talented adults who still have very loyal fan bases. Of course, famous as they all are, not all of them have had as much success as Anna has. After all, Anna isn't only a screen actress with great credits behind her name (the X-Men trilogy, Almost Famous, The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler, etc), she also has credits as a voice actor for the American voice cast of Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky and Stan Lee's Mosaic. And now that Anna plays the lovable Sookie Stackhouse on True Blood, I'm sure that we'll continue to see even more amazing performances from her that will grant her even more awards and recognition from her peers.
