Kristin Bauer van Straten Stands Up for Animal Rights

Kristin Bauer van Straten is really big on animal rights, which is a wonderful thing. Besides her wonderful work with The Amanda Foundation and the IFAW, Kristin has recently joined up with Gene Hackman in an attempt to prevent chimpanzees from being taken into a facility for painful and invasive experiments. Kristin recently wrote a letter to the head of National Institute of Health in regards to the aforementioned chimpanzees who are supposed to be moved to a research facility in Texas. She wrote,
"I've always been fascinated by chimpanzees. We now know that these amazing animals use tools, grieve for their dead, and are capable of complex communication with humans. When chimpanzees are used in invasive experiments, they are often kept in small metal cages, deprived of normal social interaction, and subjected to harmful procedures…Please don't send the Alamogordo chimpanzees back in the laboratory. These wonderful animals deserve so much better."
It's very nice to see how some actors use their fame to help the environment and the animals that also inhabit our planet. Thank you, Kristin, for caring. Animals deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, just like all other creatures on the planet. To show your opposition to using retired chimpanzees for laboratory experiments, please visit the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and send your letter to Secretary Sebelius. Your voice is needed to stop this from happening. SOURCE: Ecorazzi (Image Credit: HBO Inc, screenshot by Isis Nocturne)
