Joe Manganiello loved watching monster movies as a kid. In an interview with Pittsburgh Magazine, Joe said he wanted to be one of those scary creatures and used to pray that he would turn into a werewolf. "Twenty-five years later I play one on TV." Getting his wish, we will see Joe as Alcide Herveaux, a tall, dark and well built werewolf in Season 3 of Alan Ball's HBO hit series, True Blood. Airing on June 13th, Season 3 will have Alcide vying for the attention of Sookie Stackhouse, competing with vampires Eric Northman and Bill Compton. Scary creatures aside, in the article Joe went on to mention his love of the Pittsburgh Steelers. "I bleed black and gold," he said. He even made a YouTube video in 2007 about die hard Steelers fans talking in a Los Angeles bar. Growing up in Mount Lebanon, PA, Joe played varsity football and was captain of the basketball and volleyball teams. At 6'5", Joe had thought he'd play basketball in college. Instead, his childhood dream of acting called louder. Joe got the acting bug during his last year of high school. But he was not accepted into the acting program of the college of his choice, CMU. So he attended the University of Pittsburgh for a year, auditioning for everything, and his hard work paid off. He was accepted into the CMU acting program the following year. With a busy career, Joe can be seen on many network and cable channels, as well as in commercials. But True Blood fans will get to meet him in just a few short weeks, as Season 3 kicks off with more scary creatures. SOURCE: pittsburghmagazine.com (Photo credit - fanpix.net)
