Alex Gives New Meaning to the Charlie Venner Character
When filmmaker Rod Lurie decided to remake the 1971 film Straw Dogs, he cast Alexander Skarsgard before he had exploded as Eric Northman in HBO's True Blood. In an interview with with The Daily Orange, Lurie explained his thought processes about the remake and comments on early doubts about Alex being able to translate the role:"We did exceed the original in the casting of Alex. Alexander in person is unbelievably sweet, and very Swedish. But he translated into something absolutely extraordinary."Lurie feels that Alex brings better understanding to the role of Charlie Venner for the viewer and thinks that:
"You're going to see the emergence of Alexander as one of the biggest stars in the world. I doubt I'll be able to get him on the phone in two years".Those of us that are Team Eric undoubtedly already see him as a big star and will relish the chance to see him on the big screen when the movie debuts around the time that we will probably be watching the season 4 finale of True Blood, September 16, 2011.
