Substitute Teaching Helped Pay the Way

Did you ever wonder how
Todd Lowe brings so much depth to his portrayal of PTSD plagued
Terry Bellefleur on
HBO's True Blood? His days in the
University of Texas Department of Theatre probably went a long way into nurturing his natural talent because Terry is definitely one of the characters you root for in the show no matter what. Todd recently spent a weekend as part of a panel at UT's
Department of Theatre and Dance's Fantasticks' celebration weekend. He and other guests,
Bruce McGill and
Brian Danner explained how having their degree's helped them once they graduated. In Todd's case it helped him to be a substitute teacher while trying to find acting gigs. He spent time talking with Rebecca Fontenot from
The Alcalde and explains how he draws on some interesting Austin characters and that now he has to convince strangers they don't recognize him from high school, it's from True Blood. Click
