It should be no surprise that authors think books make the best gifts! Charlaine Harris, bestselling author of the Sookie Stackhouse series on which the HBO show True Blood is based, took part in a seasons greetings video for her publisher, Penguin. She and fellow writers Vicki Lewis Thompson, and Nora Roberts talked briefly about why they love to give books as Christmas gifts. Charlaine says that it has become something of a tradition for her to give books each year to pretty much every person she knows, believing that the book selection for a particular person can say a lot. "I give my children all books, whether they want them or not! I put a lot of thought into picking out the right book for the right person."Giving books would definitely be a good way for people who are fans of True Blood to get their friends and family hooked--get them started on Charlaine's highly addictive series! Book 10, Dead in the Family, won't be released until May 2010, but a picture of the cover art has surfaced. Even though we still have six months to wait until we can read it, it's exciting to see a first glimpse of the cover and think about what will happen to Sookie next!
