Nelsan Ellis as Legendary Groom Eddie Sweat
Next month, fans of Nelsan Ellis, our favorite V dealer Lafayette Reynolds on HBO's True Blood, will be able to see him play a horse of a different color, so to speak. Nelsan's talent was tapped to play the roll of legendary horse groomer Eddie Sweat in the upcoming Disney film Secretariat. Early reviews say that this role is a total departure from Lafayette's character, which is no surprise considering it is set in the 1960's south. It has been supposed that some of Nelsan's fans may be disappointed in the restraint this role called for, but quite possibly it will just show how diverse an actor he can be. Secretariat, rated PG, is due to be released on October 8, 2010 and also features Diane Lane, John Malkovich and Scott Glenn.
