Kwanten Interviewed About New Film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole
Aussie Actor Ryan Kwanten, True Blood's Jason Stackhouse, recently talked to Teen Hollywood about his new animated film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, which opened in second place at the box office. In the film, Kwanten gives voice to the character Kludd, one of the warring owl brothers, which the film based on the popular novels by Katryn Lasky centers around. Kludd is the older of the two siblings who Kwanten says, suffers from OSS (Older Sibling Syndrome) the need to be overly-ambitious, which allows him to be persuaded to the dark side. When asked if he saw an emotional comparison between Jason Stackhouse and Kludd, Kwanten responded,I think there's a vulnerability to them both and an innocence but I think Kludd has more willpower and perhaps more mental capacity. [laughter]The film took 3 years to complete, and for Kwanten was recorded during his breaks from True Blood. He says it was a nice escape from Jason Stackhouse, who he loves playing but is the last thing he wants to dive into when not shooting. Although the film is animated, Kwanten revealed during the interview that he did not watch much animated TV as a kid.
It was three boys at home and we were kicked out of the house pretty much at any moment. It was easier for us to be dealt with outside the house than inside. So we were forced to use our imaginations and play outside.Directed by Zack Synders (300) and also starring Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe), Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is in theaters now.
