Becca Wilcott, Author of Truly, Madly, Deadly, Talks True Blood

Books on TV was able to catch up with writer Becca Wilcott, author of Truly, Madly, Deadly: The Unofficial True Blood Companion. Becca Wilcott knows True Blood very well and can describe the series with such detail by describing the scenes and has the story line so memorized, one would have thought she had been there from the beginning.
"Alan Ball, the series creator, has said that True Blood is about the terrors of intimacy. I think that's spot on. Most of life is about such terror, but it's particularly fitting for this show, one in which the main characters struggle constantly with what they share with the outside world, what they keep hidden, what secrets they're trying to outrun, and which secrets need to be brought into the light of day."
It is very evident that Becca is a big fan of the show which was one of the reasons that she chose to write a companion of the show.  She really wanted to give tribute to the show that she believes is more than just TV.  The companion consists of  extensive and detailed character bios and episode guides.
"The guides themselves aren't synopses, so much as one long thread that ties two seasons of storytelling together. They showcase the key themes along with my own take of their effectiveness. But the reader can also expect highlights, Did You Know tidbits, as well as my vote for the creepiest moments in each show, and relationship advice for all the characters who seem to be fumbling through their love and family lives with stupendously horrific results. "
Becca, also, includes two interviews with Kristin Bauer, who plays Pam, and Patricia Bethune, who plays Jane Bodehouse. The companion also includes a few extra tidbits like interviews with the author of  Bite: A Vampire Handbook, interview with screenwriter of Gingersnaps Karen Walton, and lots of vampire myths and origins. This book will be a favorite of all fans of either True Blood or vampires in general. This can be something fans can "bite" into until the new season premiere on June 13th. Brit Morgan Starring in SyFy Web Series, Buried Alive

One newcomer to True Blood in Season 3, Brit Morgan, will be playing Debbie Pelt, the character that fans of the books all love to hate. Those of you who might not be familiar with Brit from her work on The Middleman will soon know her very well once we all get immersed in the new episodes this summer. In the meantime, though, you can watch Brit in 10-minute webisodes of an original horror series on SyFy called Buried Alive. The story follows a young man named Rick who is kidnapped and wakes up in a coffin six feet under ground. Brit plays a girl named Melanie, and she and her brother, Travis (Jeff Blum), are the only ones who can figure out "the seemingly eternal jigsaw that is the maniacal plan of the twisted abductors." Not only is it interesting to find television moving into this new medium of online-exclusive streaming, but Buried Alive will be a great way to see Brit before we meet her as the delightfully horrible Debbie Pelt on True Blood in a few weeks! Kristin Bauer Reveals Pam Tidbits in New Interview

The Lesbian and Bisexual Blog, AfterEllen, recently interviewed Kristin Bauer about Pam's role in Season 3 and Kristin's take on the show's approach to civil liberties. The majority of the interview focused on Pam's sexuality and her relationship and interaction with Eric in Season 3. Kristin Bauer became a series regular this year, and Pamtakes on a bigger role in the upcoming season, coming out as "omnisexual" and also delving into her first "relationship" with a woman.  The interview reveals a few interesting details about the show (Eric and Pam actually communicate with each other in Swedish) as well as Kristin's enthusiasm for portraying Pam and her interest in the social issues the show tackles. In the interview Kristin confirms that Pam is going to play a bigger role this season due to the character being a fan favorite! She says she was unsure how things would play out as her husband had told her that Pam really didn't have a larger role until Book 4.
"So, this is Season 3 and I thought "OK, maybe next year," and then they called and said "No, we wanna do it this year." So it was really a mystery and also good, a huge Christmas gift."
Kristin also reveals that Pam is "definitely bisexual" and she has an "amusement" this season (she believes Pam's only real relationship is with her maker, Eric). AfterEllen complements Pam's fashion sense saying that often times people assume lesbians have poor fashion taste. Kristin confirmed that "Pam is definitely going to be a gay woman with a sense of style." Kristin revealed that Alexander Skarsgaard actually helps her translate parts of her script into Swedish, which is the language Pam and Eric speak to each other (and I always thought it was Vampirese!).  She claims to "have no idea what [she's] saying!" Kristin also believes that the show is a "metaphor for life" and shows all sides and aspects of humanity.
"I love to be part of a show that doesn't shy away from the whole rainbow — not to make a cliche — of life. The whole spectrum. You know, we're gonna have to figure out how to live together, and we're gonna have to figure out how to go, "OK, this is my thing, but if that's your thing, cool. I've got my hands full over here with my life, I don't need to worry about your life."
Lastly, at the risk of making Producers "mad", Kristin conceded that Queen Sophie-Anne is definitely around in Season 3! Kristin is clearly more than your average actress, and it looks like Pam will continue to surprise and captivate fans in Season 3Season 3 starts June 13 on HBO. True Blood Season 3 Spoiler: The Magister Is Back

TV Guide has just posted by some spoilers which gives us some insight into what will be happening for season 3 on True Blood and it seems things are going to get tense with some interesting plotlines. Give me a good tease about True Blood's new season. — Holly MICKEY: Zeljko Ivanek (aka the best guest star of everything) returns as the Magister, and he's cracking down on the illegal V trade in Louisiana. This is a problem for the Queen, since she's tacitly allowing it, and for Eric and Pam, since they're running it. SOURCE:  tvguide.com (Photo credit:  HBO Inc.)
