Who Is The Fangtastic Five?

true-blood-2-2-eric-and-bill And where do our favorite Sexy True Blood vampires fit in?  Sorry fanpires you are going to have to watch the video to find out. Now we all know True Blood's two leading vampires Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) have brought back sexy on and off the screen. Since this an all time list (which you need to keep in mind before you have a fit.)  The video gives us a brief view of vampires on the big and small screen. Personally in recent memory except for Nosferatu and the vampires from "Thirty Days of Night" (I'm sure their is more so be nice when reminding me.)  I found most vampires to be sexy, seductive and misunderstood.   If you remember most of the old movies there was always some long lost love that the female character resembled which made the vampire obsessed and needy of her love. Alex Fox of Bizarre Magazine gives us her rundown of her "fangtastic five" in her short video interview on ITN Extreme.  Let us know your comments below if you think she has the "Top 5" correct! Rutina Wesley Daemons TV Interview

rutina_wesley-333x500Daemonstv.com has a great interview with Rutina Wesley where she discusses her acting background, her character as Tara Thornton and much more.  The interview is gives a little more background on Rutina and what's going on with Tara for True Blood Season2. Some of the interview below
Can you talk a bit then how Tara evolves throughout the season? Rutina Wesley: Like I said, we're going to see Tara getting taken care of. There's going to be some romance and then there's chaos of course, but without giving too much away I do think that just generally it'll be a softer side of Tara that we'll see this season. I mean, her edge is still there, but she's not as edgy as she was last season. She's definitely a lot more vulnerable and I think it's very beautiful to see a Black character on TV that the writers have given so many levels to and so much complexity. She's not just the angry woman. She's got so much more to her and that's why I enjoy and love playing her. Who's your favorite character, apart from Tara? Rutina Wesley: Oh, everyone. I'm being totally honest here. It's really hard to have a favorite because especially this season the creative team has given everyone something so meaty and juicy to work on and everyone is playing it so well. I think that all of us have been cast right on and so everyone is playing their part brilliantly and there's no one person that I lean more towards. I mean, I love Nelsan Ellis. We went to school together. I've always loved him, since we were in school. I enjoy working with Anna Paquin and Adina Porter who plays my mother and of course Michelle Forbes who is amazingly...her and Adina are two of the most amazingly grounded women and actresses that I've worked with in my life. They're just there. I've learned so much from working with them. It's been a real treat.

True Blood “It Gets More Bizarre”

carrie-preston-2 Says Carrie Preston who plays Arlene Fowler on True Blood. Ms.Preston spoke with Fred Topel from scifiwire.com were she was  in attendance representing True Blood for the Saturn Award nomination (I think someone should stake the judges, it didn't win). In The article Ms. Preston talks about the first two episodes of this season, And in Carrie's words exclaims: "Oh, my gosh, you're going to see characters do things that you would never expect them to do,".  You're going to see them do things they would never expect themselves to do.  It goes to a pretty crazy place" I am personally loving this season of True Blood and everyone's reaction to it.  For me the crazier the better, it has been too long since network or cable TV aired anything even slightly edgy.  If I had to watch another formatted sitcom or some other junk that industry executives found acceptable for me, I was going to end up either in a boredom induced coma, or broke from buying DVD's.  OK slight editorial there, to much caffeine ya think? Starpulse Entertainment True Blood Recap

trueblood_season2-10 There are many editorial comments  from last night's True Blood episode on the web. Starpulse gave the best break down for those of you (VERY BAD fanpires who missed last nights episode). If you did this would be a SPOILER ALERT; just warning you now. So just like the directions on bleach bottles that say do not ingest (obvious but people still drink it!). The humorous insights fit my sense of humor. In the first paragraph there is one that I love, it discusses last week's cliff hanger when Bill arrives at Jessica's house "to clean up Sookie's mess": "Bill only had to glamour her family. Tch! Very disappointing, "True Blood." I promise, we'd still love Bill even if he murdered an entire family ... probably." That's OK I would Too! I also like Pam's reaction on not wanting to ruin her pumps when asked to go searching for, In Eric's words "The Bull head creature". In another paragraph the author humorously discusses the relationship with Bill and Sookie and some of her not so smart stubborn choices: "Anyway Bill and Sookie have their usual OMG I HATE YOU OH WAIT NO I LOVE YOU YAY OH NO SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED back and forth relationship this week. It's as strangely endearing as ever. They fight over Sookie's choice to bring Jessica to see her family Bill snaps at her (rightfully), and Sookie (stupidly) goes stomping out into the darkness. Because she apparently doesn't watch this show. And of course something bizarre pops out - half bull half man? - and cuts her open. I love whenever something weird happens to Sookie; her reactions never disappoint. This time she just goes "what the...." and then runs like hell." Now of course we know this is leading to enlisting Eric's help to save her which introduces us to the straight forward fun little doctor, Dr. Ludwig played by the talented Marcia deRousse [See the TBN interview here], then putting her in debt to Eric. Those damn vampires and their nothing are for free politics, they are like working for a crime syndicate! So next episode (IN TWO WEEKS!) off to Dallas they go.  I only wished the Starpulse article had included the Sookie's line to Eric when he implies he might grow on her:  "I prefer cancer". To read more the full recap is available at: starpulse.com By the way not only was Eric flirting with Sookie, but check out Eric's little exchange with Lafayette!  And what about Bill's fit when finding Jessica and Hoyt together?  Was that an "overprotective dad" moment or what?  When next we see them we'll find out if Bill's growl is worse than his bite! True Blood - Sookie Stackhouse

sookie-stackhouseExploring Characters from the HBO Southern Vampire Mystery Series. True Blood Season Two premiered in June 2009. Here is a look at the main characters who make up Alan Ball's hit series based on Charlaine Harris' vampire books. Sookie Stackhouse (played by Canadian born Anna Paquin) is the lead female character who appears in the HBO Series True Blood. True Blood is based on the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. Sookie makes her first appearance in the True Blood episode Strange Love.  She is called many names by the locals and calls her telepathic gift a disability, acknowledging that the towns folk think she is crazy.   Sookie Stackhouse's Family History in True Blood. Sookie lived in her family home with her grandmother Adele Stackhouse until Adele was killed by the Bon Temps serial killer.  Sookie also has a brother Jason Stackhouse who is somewhat promiscuous and coincidentally slept with two of the women killed prior to the death of their grandmother One additional family member is Bartlett Hale, Sookie's great uncle who is killed not long after the death of Adele Stackhouse.  It is revealed that Bill Compton had killed Bartlett not long after Sookie tells him that her great uncle had molested her when she was a child. Both of Sookie's parents died in a flash flood when she was 7. Sookie Stackhouse's Living Arrangements in True Blood (Season One): When Adele Stackhouse is killed, Sookie learns that the house was left to her in her grandmothers will. In order to make ends meet Sookie works at the local bar called Merlotte's (owned by Sam Merlotte) where she first encountered Vampire Bill Compton. Her house is close to Bill Compton's and the local grave yard situated between the properties divides their land. Sookie's parents, grandparents and ancestors are all interred in this cemetery. Sookie Stackhouse's Romantic Involvement with Bill Compton: While working at Merlotte's one night Sookie meets Bill and is attracted to him for two reasons - he is a real Vampire and she cannot read his mind. During this first meeting Sookie uses her gift to save Bill's life and the two strike up an unlikely and sometimes clumsy romance. Sookie admits that she, at 25 is still a virgin and that this is her first romantic relationship with another. One of the reasons she sites for taking so long to get involved with another is that her telepathy usually messes things up as she can hear the impure intentions of any potential suitor. This, to Sookie, is a big turn off. Relationship Dynamics Explored in True Blood (Season One): Although 25, Sookie acts like a teenager in love, dealing with numerous adolescent feelings and emotions. As she has never experienced a relationship before Sookie learn to master her jealousy and manage her response to the sexual overtones Bill's vampire friends display.  Sookie brings an air of naivety and innocence to the interactions between her and Bill sometimes leading to many tense moments. On one occasion Sookie indignantly tells Bill that she will not call him again, as he has not courted her and she has done all the chasing up to that point. (Photo credit: HBO)

Is Maryann A Maenad?

michelle_forbes Greek Mythology defines Maenads as the female followers of Dionysus.  A literal translation of the name means "raving ones" In Wikipedia the maenads are said to be inspired by Dionysus "into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication. In this state, they would lose all self control, begin shouting excitedly, engage in uncontrolled sexual behavior, and ritualistically hunt down and tear animals (and sometimes men and children) to pieces, devouring the raw flesh. During these rites, the maenads would dress in fawn skins and carry a thyrsus, a long stick wrapped in ivy or vine leaves and tipped by a cluster of leaves, weave ivy-wreaths around their heads, and often handle or wear snakes." If you remember the first time we saw Maryann she was in the woods, naked carrying a staff which would be her "thyrsus". In the previous two episodes of  True Blood we saw Maryann influence the patrons at Merlotte's into an uncontrolled "frenzy" of dance, also putting a kind of aphrodisiac type spell over the crowd. Now the party at her house  in the third episode made the party at Merlotte's seem tame. In the following paragraph from the hermetic fellowship it describes many of Maryann's personality traits. "The Maenads are called nurses and foster mothers --- they not only nurse and mother the young God (referring to Dionysus), but young animals in the forest as well. They have the power to make the Earth bloom and the wild animals come to them." The same document also lists the power of maenads as such: · To awaken the God ·    To run with the God ·    To share His attributes ·    To tame wild things by nursing them ·    To call forth water and wine and milk and honey from the Earth ·    To fight and not be harmed ·    To destroy ·    To prophesy We have seen the nurturing side of  Maryann in her relationship to Tara and Eggs. These are two people who were strays of society to some degree, we learned Eggs was homeless and Tara never had a mother who was emotionally there for her needs, she was left her entire life to fend for herself then re-abandoned when her mother saw herself as "saved".  We also saw Maryann's interaction (which more seemed like communication) with the pig at her house. Briefly we saw a picture at her pool which showed Pan with his human lover, maenads were known to be lovers of Pan and the Satyr which is described as a half man half goat creature. The Question is why would she attack Sookie? Also why would she have killed Ms. Jeanette? The two things these women have in common is Tara. As for Ms. Jeanette I feel  Maryann believes she was avenging Tara , in her confrontation with Tara's mother she may have not physically ripped Tara's mother's heart out but her words were meant to.  I am sure their is a whole other reason for her attack on Sookie we will have to watch more to find out(I love and HATE  that everything in this show is a cliffhanger.) And watch out Tara this women may be nurturing when you are on her good side, the other side well  NOT so good. To read more on Maenads and Dionysus information is available from the following sources hermeticfellowship.org meanad on wikipedia Dionysus on wikipedia (photo credit: HBO inc.)

Hollywood Life's Interview with William Sanderson

williams-hlHollywood Life.com recently had the chance to interview True Blood's William Sanderson.  William has starred in film classics Coal Miner's Daughter, Blade Runner, and HBO's Deadwood.  In the interview, William talks about what appealed to him about True Blood, working with True Blood cast members, the types of roles he's played and his childhood.  Some of the interview below.

The cast is stellar. What do you glean from them on set?

Especially Anna, she has this incredible energy. That's probably my biggest talent is to keep up with them. They're half my age or less. Or more, I should say. Or Stephen Moyer, a wonderful actor from England who plays her love interest. Anna never fumbles with her lines, she's very professional. And inventive! It's exciting anytime I get to work with an Academy Award winner. Well, I wouldn't say always fun – but educational.

Hollywood Life's Interview with Deborah Ann Woll

deborahaw-hlHollywood ife.com recently had the chance to interview True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll. In the interview Deborah,  talks about her first appearance in Season 1 of True Blood and how she prepared for the role by watching animal attack videos.  Deborah's goes on to talk about the difficulty talking with fangs. Some of the interview below.
Your character, Jessica, was a sheltered girl who transformed into an outspoken, bratty teenage vampire. Could you relate to any of that from your teenage years? What were you like? I was nothing like Jessica. I was very shy. Very quiet. I was a hard worker and I really just did my own thing. I was very un-popular. I certainly was not in the in-crowd. I was a big nerd. I did not have the attitude or the sort of self confidence that Jessica has. And part of me wishes that I did, because I wouldn't have been such a doormat my whole life. She really doesn't let anybody tell her what to do or tell her she's inappropriate. And I think that's a great quality in a way. Jessica will learn to balance that out a little bit, I hope. But, no, I didn't really draw on my own experiences. I tended to watch a lot of specific celebrities who maybe had a similar feel to them, and I just thought a lot about what it would be like to have never been allowed to express yourself. To always have been told that what you thought and felt were wrong, your entire life. And what would it be like to finally be able to say 'Never again am I going to let someone marginalize me or make me feel less than.'

10 Reasons Why You Should be Watching True Blood

13210283Blast Magazine has an article on the 10 reasons why you should be watching "True Blood". At first thought there are probably more than 10 reasons to watch True Blood, the majority are on the list that Blast Magazine names, but there are many others as well.  Post to the comments areas  your reasons to watch True Blood Season 2! From Blast Magazine:
Not just for the romance between vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and psychic waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), and not just because it's about vampires. Make no mistake: "True Blood" is not your little sister's "Twilight." It's got action, intrigue, plenty of steamy scenes, Southern charm, creatures of the night, Anna Paquin, a guy that turns into a dog, and enough blood splatter to make a Jackson Pollock painting jealous.
Here is what they list: 1. The supernatural 2. Bon Temps, Louisiana 3. The opening credits 4. Love Triangle meets unrequited love meets star-crossed lovers 5. Beefcake 6. Cheesecake 7. Tara Thornton 8. Jason Stackhouse's clueless face 9. Lafayette 10. Vampire Bill's string quartet Read the article at Blast to get more details on the reasons to watch True Blood Season 2!

Anne Rice Weighs In On True Blood and Twilight

Aaron Tellock on examiner.com had a question and answer with Anne Rice.  If you are anne_rice2wikiunfamiliar, Anne Rice's novels beginning with "Interview With The Vampire" defined a genre of change in the way we saw vampires.  It also inspired an entire subculture although already existing to, OK I will say it, come out of the coffin. I have been a vampire and horror fan since I was young, I actually ran home from school in second grade to watch "Dark Shadows". Alright So I was a little freak but hey if you are reading this you have all joined my ranks. In the question and answer Ms. Rice not only talks about the popularity of her books but, weighs in on her opinion of  True Blood and Twilight. Here is an excerpt talking about both series:
"Q: What do you think about the direction that the vampire legend has taken over the past few years?" ON  Twilight Ms. Rice States: "I am intrigued by the direction the vampire legend has taken. I think the teen vampire romance, Twilight, was a curious film in many respects, one obviously made for 12 year olds, and it presents a very tame picture of the vampire and one that does not entirely make sense. We are to believe that a group of immortals choose to life in a tiny town rather than a metropolis, and that they go to high school over and over again, which certainly sounds horrible. But obviously this appeals to very young kids and the vampire, Edward, is charming, and strong, and is a powerful metaphor for the outsider and also he represents what teenagers dream of: a boyfriend who is really deep and caring and powerful and protective. In a way, it is about a young girl's desire for an older man." As for True Blood: "True Blood, the HBO series, is infinitely more complex. The show is clever, satirical and yet deeply involving. It is full of humor and yet its characters have tender and emotional scenes. I find it very engaging and fun to watch. Obviously it has too much sex and violence for very young teens. But for an adult audience, it is an amazing development in the vampire mythology, putting the vampires right into the mainstream of the modern world. I like the show. I think the vampire Bill is the usual metaphor for the outsider and the sensitive outcast who suffers. He's excellent."
Now do not fang the messenger I am just bringing the excerpts of her article, if you read both responses she is not slamming the series she just feels that the vampires of "Twilight" just present a much tamer version of the vampire genre which would appeal to young teens. And also says that True Blood is meant for a more mature audience because it has too much sex and violence for the younger teens. None of this says that both series cannot be enjoyed by everyone but… well… you all know where I weigh inn. I just love my True Blood. True Blood’s Sam Trammell Talks

sam-trammell Dave Walker a TV columnist from "The Times-Picayune talked with Sam Trammell who plays our favorite shapeshifter Sam Merlotte.  During a recent phone interview with Mr. Walker he discussed Sam's hometown and  growing up and dealing with his surprising new found fame.  I like the way the article comes across revealing Mr.Trammells laid back personality, and the humbleness in how he deals with being recognized with the wide spread popularity of True Blood.  Since He moved around with his parents, the article focuses more on Sam's time in Louisiana where the fictional town of Bon Temps exists and also where much of True Blood is filmed. On living in Louisiana Sam says :
"I remember it being pretty big," he said during a recent telephone interview. "I went back a few years ago and it's just so tiny. I remember playing kick-the-can right before dusk. It was such a great neighborhood to grow up in. I also remember going to Mardi Gras parades and just yelling at the people, 'Give me something, mister!' That was what I was taught to yell. I think that's what all the kids yelled back then. I remember the doubloons and the beads. It was really fun, really exciting."
Also how his life seemed to go full circle: "We shot in and around Shreveport, and one day we were going to shoot this scene and we were driving and driving into the country and all of a sudden we turned this corner and go over this railroad crossing and I realized we were in Doyline.  Doyline is a tiny town where my father's side of the family all grew up. I have 13 relatives buried in the cemetery.  The scene itself was shot near Lake Bistineau, on land that Trammell's great-grandfather once owned".
In Sam Trammell's words which I felt most revealed what a genuinely nice person he is on the subject of being recognized he stated:
"I was in a Starbucks and one of the baristas sort of was looking at me and came up really timidly and asked if I was Sam Trammell. 'Yeah, it's just me. I live right down the street. I'm nothing special, but I'm really flattered that you're so impressed."  "It's all exciting. At this point, I'm not even going to pretend that it's a hassle. It's awesome. It's great to be in something that people like."
It is great that he enjoys his role in the show and where it has taken him, and also that he truly appreciates his new found fame those are the people I believe most deserving of it.

Jace Everett Talks True Blood and New Album

jaceeverett-usaweekendJace Everett, the songwriter for True Blood's theme song Bad Things, talked with Lorrie Lynch at USA Weekend. Jace talks about releasing his third album, Red Revelations, True Blood and his background.   Be sure to check out Jace Everett's official Website and Myspace page.
So tell me about how Bad Things ended up on a cult vampire series. That's actually a really cool story of synchronicity. Bad Things was on the Sony record back in 2005, and my friends at iTunes actually gave me the opportunity to be the iTunes Single of the Week in 2006. So Bad Things was downloaded by about 210,000 people, and one of those people happened to be Alan Ball, the creator of True Blood

The Critical Condition Wants an Emmy Call To Arms For True Blood

tabu_true-blood-cast-5209-588aA recent video blog from Mark Blankenship calls out for an "Emmy Call To Arms" for two  HBO Shows True Blood and Big Love. He feels both of these shows are as he says "barometers of the new liberal America". In his video he breaks down different reasons as to why he enjoy these shows. On Big Love he likes the performance of the actors specifically mentioning Chloe Sevigny, and the pull between conservatism of the polygamous Mormon family centered in the show.  He sees the family on the show as although following a conservative controversial style of life, they are at the same time being an outsider in their own pier group. On True Blood he first mentions the hot shirtless factor of the men we know and love. Yes Mark we love those scenes also. Then goes on to talk about the metaphor of gay rights in America the whole "coming out of the coffin" which clearly resonates with G.B.L.T. (for those of you unfamiliar with the terms) it stands for gay, bisexual, lesbian, and transgendered. I agree with most of his statement ,but I feel he left out the capability of the actors on True Blood To make the unbelievable, believable. Every one of those characters stands out and delivers memorable scenes. It's amazing to me in the casting of the show how Alan Ball has picked actors who give top performances from the main cast, to those who have one or two lines. Here is the youtube video for you to enjoy Mark's funny and insightful commentary.

True Blood vs Twilight The Battle Is On!

bill-and-eric Ted Casablanca of  "The Awful Truth" posted a poll called "Whose the Rob Pattinson of True Blood" Now I am obviously biased.  I saw "Twilight" and although I liked the movie,  I would rather see the poll called who is the Stephen Moyer,  or Alexander Skarsgard of "Twilight."  You know what I say NO COMPARISON! That's right (no,"Twilight" fans you may not have my address) you heard me. Poor Edward,  he and Bella can't even have a relationship because he will eat her?  Our Bill Compton can control his impulses, Eric Northman hmmmm... after that little feeding frenzy, well it was only one time, that's OK.  We all have an off day.  He did try to kill Eric right ?? You saw That. As far as I'm concerned the winner should be either Eric or Bill. The way I see it, "Dear and Precious" should not be used in the same sentence as vampire, terms such as let's see… smoldering hot, sexy, dangerous and a few others but "DEAR" never. Remember ladies this is all fang in cheek (could not resist) so let's keep the comments on a nice note. TrueBloodNet.com Exclusive Interview with Marcia deRousse

marcia1-smDr. Ludwig: Doctor to the Dark Side Recently we had the great pleasure of talking to Marcia deRousse who will be playing Dr. Ludwig on this Sunday's True Blood episode, "Scratches". She's been in such films as Tiptoes, And The Award Goes To... , The Grannies and Under The Rainbow and in familiar TV shows including The Fall Guy, St. Elsewhere and Highway to Heaven. She also does stand up comedy and plays including 'The Sugar Bean Sisters" for which she was nominated for Best Actress by the Ticketholder's Awards. She took most of the nineties off to take care of her sick mother but returned to acting in 2000 after her mother passed. Oh, and she just happens to be a little person. TBN.com: The Ozarks are beautiful, what is your favorite thing about growing up there? Marcia: The nature and the beauty of it. The beautiful clear rivers, our farm is right between two beautiful, clean pristine rivers. The natural quality of everything there plus it's an easier slower way of life. I got to have more of a 'normal' upbringing than if I had spent a lot of time in the city because it's slower and quieter and gentler in many ways. TBN.com: We know you attended the University of Missouri, Columbia attaining a degree in education. How long did you teach? Marcia: In Missouri I taught for two years and then when I came out here I substitute taught for about seven years. I would get permanent, long-term, substitute jobs. I was offered jobs to teach but it's hard to take a teaching position full time because when they call you for an audition you have to go! You can't say, can you wait till schools out? It was funny because when I was at the university of Missouri, Columbia and wanted to declare an education major, I went to the office and the secretary handed me the form for elementary education, I asked for the K through 12 form because I really wanted to teach Junior High and High School. She looked at me and said, "You can't." I asked why and she said, "You're too small." I looked at her and I blinked and asked, "What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?" She replied that, "You'd never have any respect from kids that were bigger than you." So I walked down the hall to my advisors office, and he went back and told her, "Give her the forms, she can teach anybody she wants to teach." And he made the woman apologize to me. The funny thing was I always ended up being the most beloved and respected teacher in the school because we'd have the first day, and I'd say, "You can ask me questions, don't be rude but ask questions and we'll discuss it and then we won't talk about it any more. It becomes a non issue, my size is a non issue. I'm still your teacher, I'm still older than you. I'm here for you to learn from me and I'll learn from you." And it always worked. People would think it was funny because during break time I'd be walking through campus and there would be these big kids following me calling, "Miss deRousse, Miss deRousse, Miss deRousse". People from farms said it reminded them of banty hens which sit on big eggs and before long after they hatch the babies are much bigger than the mother but they're still following heraround! They thought the kids following me reminded them of that. TBN.com: When and how did you know that you wanted to be an actor? Marcia: Because I was different anyway, I learned early on that I could either use that, or I was going to get slaughtered by it. So I became the class clown, plus I was the smart kid; I had that strike against me as well. I realized I could either learn to have people laugh with me or at me. I could entertain them and have them on my side or I could have them picking on me. I would actually go to bed at night and pray, "Please, God, please give me a good sense of humor, let me be funny. " And one day it just happened! That was in Junior High School and I thought, "This is great! This is really fun. I enjoy this." So I was in the speech and the drama classes and did all the school plays. When I went to college I believed that I was going to teach special ed, I'd really intended to do that but I walked past the theater department one day and walked in and that was it! I thought, "Oh no, this is home. This is where I'm supposed to be." So fairly early on I knew. When the family would get together and I had a captive audience I would put on a little show. I'd think, "You can't go anywhere. We're going to make sure I get to do something." TBN.com: What was your very first performance and how did it go? Marcia: I did stand up comedy after I graduated high school. They were doing a fundraiser in my hometown and they needed somebody funny to keep the show going. I happened to know the guy that was the MC from school and he said, "Why don't you just come and do some of this?" because I'd developed little characters like Lillie Tomlin. He thought I should come and do it to keep the show going. That night, when I was finished, I walked out and got a standing ovation. I thought, "OK! This is what I want to do!" I think that's why, even going onto college and doing theater (it's still my favorite). That energy of having a live audience right there. If you throw love out to them they're going to give it back to you. That's when I realized, "OK this is what I'm really supposed to do." So that's what sticks in my head as the, "aHA!" moment that this is what I really want to do. TBN.com: Clearly, then, you prefer theater? Marcia: Theater is my favorite BUT you can't really make money in LA in theater. It's really difficult to do. If you want to make a living in theater you need to be in New York or London or somewhere besides here. There's a lot of what's called, "equity waiver theater', I'm a member of actors equity also. There's a lot of that which is 99 seats or less. And I do it because I have to do theater every so often or I just go out of my mind. So theater is my favorite because you get an immediate response. You know that people enjoy you.. or don't! Whatever the case may be you know immediately. When they don't at least you have a few seconds to change your gear a little bit. It's the most challenging and it's the one I love the most and I think it's interesting because Alan Ball worked and theater, and Stephen, of course, loves theater. And I heard he and Alex exchanging information about theater, so even though I didn't talk to Alex about theater, I'm sure he's done it quite a bit too. So it seems like the people at True Blood like theater actors. I think partly because if you can do theater, you can do anything; and maybe I'm just being conceited, but it's a very disciplined field. You have to really rehearse and develop and grow and learn. And then every night, when you walk out [on stage] you have one shot that night. There's no retakes! I think that discipline of theater actors is appreciated at True Blood. TBN.com: It mentions in your biography that you were 'discovered' standing in a bank line, can you tell that story? Marcia: When I first moved out here, I had my teaching degree in hand and was working at Braille Institute. I is on the corner of Vermont and Melrose which is in the Hollywood area. I was taking acting classes and developing. My acting teacher at the time was Gerald McRaney who went on to be a big star in "Simon and Simon". I was a very 'serious' actor. I went up to the bank at lunch time to deposit my check on a Friday afternoon. There was probably a little PMS going on, I was a little on the grumpy side and the bank line was long and I was irritated. This little guy came up and tapped me on the shoulder and I said, "WHAT?" and he said, "Oh! Have you heard about the movie that Billy Barty is doing called 'Under the Rainbow?" And I said, "No." I mean I was awful! I look back on it now and I just want to slap myself. He said, "Well he's still looking for more little people to be in it and here's his phone number, I'm going to write it down for you. Why don't you give him a call and tell him that Ed Valentine told you to call?" I'm thinking, "OK everyone's a producer here in Hollywood, I might as well take it or he won't leave me alone!" So I took his card and put it in my pocket.. and I was called up next in the bank line and when I turned around after he was gone. I had started thinking, "What a jerk you were." It's really not how I am but it was just one of those times! That was on a Friday and on Sunday, I was hanging my jacket up and found it and thought, "Well, I'll call this number and see who this really is." And it really was Billy Barte! And he really was looking for more people. When I told him the story he just thought it was the funniest story and he told me to come on over and long story short I got hired to be in the movie, "Under the Rainbow' and that was my first working job. That was in December when I had only gotten out here in September. Again, it was all meant to be. TBN.com: What was it like playing 'mom' to Matthew McConaughey and Gary Oldman in "Tiptoes"? Marcia: Oh my goodness! That was absolutely astounding! They are two magnificent actors! I didn't realize what a wonderful actor Matthew is until I was on the set. I was thrilled, of course, because I thought it would be nice to work with this gorgeous man. And he IS gorgeous! Like Stephen and Alex, he is even more beautiful in person. When I met him and worked with him and realized how smart and sharp and on target he was.. and how giving! What a giving actor he is. He makes sure that everyone has their moment to shine. He and I sat and talked and got to know each other a lot. Gary was a little more, maybe reticent and shy. But he also had prosthetics, because he played a little person. So he was in the make-up area quite a bit, he wasn't out with us as much as Matthew was. It was almost like an out of body experience to be working with them. One day we had a scene with Kate Beckinsale who played my daughter-in-law. We were at the dinner table and there was a break and we're all sitting there just chatting and Matthew popped up and reached over and patted my hand and said to Gary, "Mom was about five when you were born, but that's Hollywood ain't it mom?" It was a really wonderful experience and I really enjoyed it. I figure I'm one lucky woman. Look at the men that I'm working with! marcia-2-smTBN.com: Can you describe who and/or what your character in True Blood is? Marcia: I had read the book, my friend Pattie Tierce who was in a play, "the Sugar Bean Sisters" with me, the one [play] where I was runner-up for best actress, had done a True Blood episode. And one day when we were rehearsing she said, "I've got to get home so I can watch this episode." So I watched it and was immediately hooked! Then when I read the books and the character of Dr. Ludwig I thought, "Oh my God! Wouldn't this be great!" But in the book she looked pretty different to me and knowing how Hollywood can stay true to type I thought, "Well gosh." So it was in the back of my mind and I thought it would be such a wonderful thing because I saw her as very pragmatic, as I played her. Very pragmatic and matter of fact. And she is a doctor; she is also a healer which you sort of hear about. And I honestly don't know a whole lot more about the other stuff. She doesn't just use medicine. I saw her as being fearless, totally fearless. She will work with them, the vampires and the other-worldly people. She probably charges through the nose. She probably makes a months salary every time she goes in and works with them. But she's also not afraid of them. There's probably something in her back pocket telling her they're not going to hurt her, anyway. They do need her because she's one of the few that will work with them. But she needs them too. She's a character! TBN.com: Is it a recurring role? Marcia: I hope so, in the book it is. She comes back twice more in the books. One of my friends who's a real True Blood addict said, "I think those folks ought to have Dr. Ludwig on speed dial because they're always getting hurt." You never know, because look what they did with Lafayette! He died in the books but in the series they brought him back. It's funny, this morning on my Facebook [Editor's note: her Facebook name is marcia.derousse for those that would like to friend her] I took the test to find out "Which True Blood character are you?" and I turned out to be Lafayette! And I thought, "This is perfect because not only do I love his character but he comes back!" So you never know. I have no inkling at all of what they're going to do but who knows, if they decide to, they can bring her back. TBN.com: I was going to ask you if you're a fan of the show but you already told us that. You seem to be anticipating my questions! Marcia: Well I'm psychic! TBN.com: What appeals to you regarding the show? Marcia: One thing that really strikes me is that it is addressing so many of the prejudices that this world has that's focused towards the vampires. And they address that, they show how ugly it is to be looked down upon and separated. And with the vampires they're weaving in the shape shifters according to the books, the werewolves. Again, I don't have any idea what they're anticipating doing. But they are bringing in all these creatures that for me, being such an imaginative kid, I always believed they were real. In my head, they were real. So seeing them on the show, I like these characters. I like these beings. I like them so I wouldn't be afraid of them.. except maybe Eric! But Dr. Ludwig's not! I think they show the humanity in these characters and I think that's beautiful. For me, someone being different and looking different... I know, come Monday when I go out, I'll be recognized because every time I'm on TV or in a movie, I am. But I'm recognized anyhow because I'm different enough. And it's OK. I love it and enjoy it and it's alright with me, but it's showing the humanity [True Blood] and the fact that being set apart and being picked on is not right. I love that. I love the fact that they are likeable characters. Those beings, the vampires, the shape-shifters.. I'd go sit down with them. I'd go to a party with them because they're just likeable. TBN.com: Is there anything about filming True Blood that's different than other shows that you've worked on? Anything that's more challenging or more enjoyable? Marcia: I found it really enjoyable in that they are the classiest group of people I've ever worked with in my life. From Alan Ball all the way down. Very nice and friendly. Very accommodating and very professional. Everybody is so professional, so well prepared. Everything works like clockwork. I've been on a lot of sets and I have never seen such precision in the way that everything works out. Of course, the three people that I worked with, Anna, Stephen and Alex have all worked together quite a bit but they never made me feel like an outsider, not for one second. At the table read, my take on Dr. L, there were things that were funny. Now Dr. Ludwig would fall over dead if she thought she was funny. But I knew she was supposed to be funny. And people were cracking up and thought she was funny. And as I was leaving I heard Anna Paquin say, "Oh you're funny!" She was coming towards me and put out her hand and said, "I'm Anna and I wanted to meet you because we're going to work together. I'm thinking to myself, "Yes I know who you are." But I introduced myself and went on and I thought to myself, "How sweet!" Then I was in the make up chair and Stephen came and sat in the make up chair next to me (eat your heart out! [Editor's note: We are, We ARE!]) but he did the same thing. He said, "Hello, I'm Stephen" and I wanted to say, "I have not been living under a rock, I know who you are!" but being professional I said, "How do you do, it's nice to meet you." His [Stephen's] dog came in with him and his dog straight up to me, because dogs always know when you can talk to them, the dog came straight up to me and said, "Hi! I want you to tell him that I'm not a dog!" I sat there for a second then looked at him and said, "Your friend here says to tell you that he's not a D-O-G." He looked at me and he blinked and said, "Well that's exactly what he thinks!" Well that's what he told me. So he thought that was pretty funny. They all treated me as if I'd been there forever as well and that was just lovely. And that doesn't always happen either. TBN.com: Are there types of roles that you're hoping to do, that you haven't had the chance to do yet? Marcia: I've always been good at feisty little old ladies, Estelle Getty type characters. I do those on stage a lot. I would just love to do that type of character on a sit com or a show. Number one you can get by with absolutely everything. Those old ladies get to say what they want to and nobody gets mad. They just say, "Oh, that's cute!" Also, something that doesn't necessarily say, "Little Woman" on the call. Because I am first of all a human being. But that's a fight that all people that are different, whether it's little people or people with disabilities.. we have to work just a little bit harder than everybody else. We have to be just a little better; we have to shine just a little brighter. I'm working on it! I did audition for that kind of role on a sit-com the day that my kittycat Snowflake died. I knew she was dying and she told me to go, I didn't want to leave her but that is actually still pending to do a sit-com with that role so keep your fingers crossed. Because again, she's a feisty one! I don't know how I get these feisty roles! TBN.com: What further projects do you have in the works? Marcia: I have two indie films that I'm going to be working on this summer. One is called "Pie Head" where I play a grandma in that one, it's really cute. The second one is going to be a real joy. It's still untitled but it's with Joey Travolta's group and I'm co-staring with Jerry Jewell who's one of my dearest friends. ... And then, after Sunday night, my mouth to God's ears, people will realize, "Oh yes, she is still around." It goes in cycles. Merideth Eaton got everything for a long time, and God bless her I'm glad she got the work that she got. She's very talented and very beautiful. But this one was my turn! The girl that auditioned with me, also a dear friend of mine, and there were only two of us at the audition-two little blondes, she made Dr. Ludwig compassionate. When she told me that I thought, "I'm sorry Desire, I hate to tell you this, but I don't think you're getting this one." It was just meant for me to have that particular role and this is a hugely popular show. Out here, my doctor is in Beverly Hills and I went over for a check-up the other day and there were billboards everywhere! True Blood, True Blood, True Blood! And now, "True Blood Perfume: attract a human!" [Ecko Unltd] [Editor's note: Where do I get a bottle of 'Attract a Vampire' perfume?] It hit home to me; this is a big deal! I'm glad I didn't know exactly how big a deal it was when I went for the audition because I probably would have stood around tongue tied. Here I was with the two big sex symbols. Punching them in the arm and treating them like buddies. I have to tell you this because everyone loves him [Stephen], and they should! At the end of the day which was a really long day, because my stuff could be done in one day, I was holding my eyes open with toothpicks. Someone came up and put an arm around me, I turned and it was Stephen. He kissed me on the cheek and said, "I just wanted to tell you how lovely it was to meet you, Marcia, and I look forward to working with you again. Is that sweet?! And, of course, I didn't wash my cheek for about weeks! We were just all milling around, waiting to see if we had to shoot again, and just to have him do that! He didn't have to! It was so sweet. So he is really as nice as everyone believes him to be. Very nice and very sweet and even more handsome in person. I think the show will go as long as they want it to. With Charlaine Harris working on book ten, it could go ten years. And they can add their own things in so you don't know exactly what's going to happen! And Alan is brilliant. Just being in the room with his energy is almost overpowering because he's just brilliant. I am a little tongue tied around him. TBN.com: We have heard that you're also a medium, psychic, animal communicator, energy and prayer healer, and can sense people's past lives. Can you talk about that work a bit? Marcia: It's something that I've always had. I was raised in the Pentecostal church and was told that that was wrong so I tamped it down but it would pop back up. My parents were very spiritual too. They never tried to stop me but then I'd go to church and I was told I'd go to hell. But then when my dad died when I was fifteen, he started coming to me immediately. I thought, "Oh no, no, push it back, I can't talk to him it's a sin." But when my mom died in 2000, I thought, "that's it, I'm going to start this again" and little by little I started getting back in the groove and working with people. I see, I hear, I sense, I feel spirits from the other side. They'll come to me and talk to me. On the set, Alex walked in and seemed to want to talk to me so I turned and looked at him and he said, "I understand you're clairvoyant." I said, "Yes." and he said, "Well I don't really believe in that but I know this woman who can do blah blah blah.." And I said, "That's ok, you don't have to believe in it and I'm not here to convince you." In a big group like that it's best if I shut it off anyway. But I saw an energy coming in behind him offering to prove it to him but I thought, "No, no, no. We'll wait till another time." Someone coming in to say hi and I thought, no, I have work to do. The spirits know who can see them and hear them and sense them and talk to them and they'll hone in on me. They think, "we've got a live one here!" I also get psychic information from my spirit guide. And also, whoever I'm sitting with, their spirit guide can also give information. My lead spirit guide, who talks to me the loudest and gives me the most information., for the longest time I called him Mr. Smartass because he WAS. He'd give really Smart assed answers when people would ask questions. When I looked at him he looked like a cowboy because spirits have lived, they incarnated. And he looked like a cowboy. He finally said, "If you've got to call me something, call me by my name, it's Jeb." He's very quiet and very profound and can be very loving. If people need loving information he can be. People will ask questions and he goes and gets the answer. Sometimes he says, "Maybe you ought not tell them this." And if he says that I'll just say, "well we're not getting a real clear answer" because obviously the person is not going to accept it and I don't want to upset them. Although, sometimes the truth just has to come out. But if it's not something that's really helpful or a benefit then I don't say it. But my favorite are the animals. Talking to them. They are straight, pure love. I work with animals that are here and I can work with animals on the other side too. But they are just so perfect. They are here to teach us, and to love and be loved, that's it! I love them much more than dealing with people. The last couple of years I've been meeting men that are past life men. When I meet them, I realize I know them. And sure enough, we'll meet each other and it's as if we're the only ones in the room even with all these glamorous women around. And I think, "Oh no, here we go again. It didn't work last time or the time before that so why are we trying it again?" TBN.com: Do you visit fan sites to read about yourself or True Blood? Marcia: No. But I will now! TBN.com: If Dr. Ludwig died what would you want on her headstone? Marcia: Took No Prisoners TBN.com: Do you have a favorite charity? Marcia: The ASPCA, I do fundraising for them. TBN.com: Do you twitter and would you like your fans to know what your twitter name is? Marcia: I have a Twitter account but I'm not good at using it. People say 'I'm following you", and the only thing I know how to do is write back and say, "You'll be very bored because I don't know how to do this". But my twitter name is smartlilblonde if anyone wants to follow me and then maybe I'll learn how! TBN.com: Are there any questions you would like to ask the fans? Marcia: If you went to the hospital emergency room, and Dr. Ludwig came in to treat you, what would your reaction be? Marcia: I expect people are going to be tickled by Dr. Ludwig. The response even in table read was very good. Then there were things added afterwards so I expect people are going to enjoy her and live vicariously through her. She's not going to be going to USC school of medicine to teach bedside manner to the med students but she comes in and takes care of business. We here at TrueBloodNet.com were certainly tickled pink by Marcia! She was very fun to talk to and we are eagerly awaiting her appearance on True Blood this Sunday. We can only imagine how much fun it would be to 'play doctor' with Eric, Bill, Sam and Pam. marcia-and-matt (Photo credit: Marcia deRousse)

stephen-moyer-conanFor all of you Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) lovers no need to panic, we would never neglect to bring you the  "Tonight Show" video interview.  I love watching Stephen on Interviews, never mind that he is easy on the eyes.  This man is FUNNY. I don't know about you, but when stars of my favorite shows have great out going personalities I believe it makes the show they are on just that much better to watch. I love that this man is an intelligent funny individual who come across so down to earth and accessible (no this does not mean anyone gains stalking privileges that's just creepy) so enjoy what you missed last night on Stephen Moyer's appearance. True Blood Promotional Photos From “Scratches”

scratches-sookieHBO has released new promo photos to get us even more excited, like we need any more anticipatory anxiety. I already go through withdrawal as soon as each new episode ends. I don't know about you, but I have HBO 'On Demand' and can watch the episodes (especially my favorite scenes) NUMEROUS times. Last week I could not help rewatching the scenes with Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Lafayette (Nelson Ellis). Yes I know I have a more twisted sense of humor than most, but the severed arm throwing, regurgitation burp mixed in with the "Is there any blood in my hair scene" with Eric sporting his highlight foils, was HYSTERICAL. It was Alan Ball's writing and the dry sense of humor Alexander Skarsgard delivered it with. I also love the tender scenes between Bill and Sookie (Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin) and the Bill growl at the endof the show, boy did Sookie piss him off last episode. Can't wait to see how this little family gathering plays out. Included in the photos for the upcoming episode are, Tara and Eggs (Rutina Wesley and Mehcad Brooks), Jason Stackhouse and Sarah Newlin (Ryan Kwanten and Anna Camp), Steve Newlin (Micheal McMillan), Marianne (Michelle Forbes). So now I have four more days to look at the new True Blood promo photos for Sundays show, so I figure why not share it with all of you to build your anticipation as well! sookie-bill-scratches eric-scratches eggs-tara2-scratches eggs-tara-scratches marianne-scratches jason-and-sarah steve-newlin-scratches (photo credit: HBO)

Molly Burnett Has Taken A Turn for The Better?

Molly Burnett, best known for her Hell raising character Melanie on Days mv5bmja3otawnjawnl5bml5banbnxkftztcof Our Lives, has taken a turn for the better?  As a seductive Jesus loving rock singer on Alan Ball's HBO show True Blood.  In a question and answer interview with Michael Logan in TV Guide, Molly talks about her role as Amanda Jane and her character's performance as lead singer of the all girl Christian rock band "Amanda Jane and The God Rockets" here are some fun excerpts from the interview: " True Blood couldn't be hotter—and cooler—so kudos on the gig! Are you a fan?" "Before I did the role I didn't have HBO—which has obviously changed now—so I didn't know the show. Prior to the audition I went online to watch an episode. I just selected one at random and it was the one where this crazed naked vampire [Liam, played by Graham Shiels] is having sex with a woman who's all tied up, and I was like, "Oh, my God! What kind of show am I auditioning for?" But my best friend, who watches True Blood, said, "It's OK, Molly. Relax. It's not all like that." What's funny is I am thinking about the scene and all the crazy stuff is part of what attracted me to the show. Jason (Ryan Kwanten's) scenes with Maudette Picken's played by Danielle Sapia, introduced us to his character in such an 'in your face' way.  You were able to read him from the beginning, even as a womanizer his air-headed, himbo personality is what made him so likable. In my opinion the video sex with Liam gave you a fun glimpse into the ride Alan Ball was about to take you on.  I would imagine as an actress it would be intimidating to think uh-oh what are they expecting of me. In more of the question and answer she goes on to explain the character of Amanda Jane: "What's the scoop on Amanda Jane?" "She's not your stereotypical Christian singer. She's very sexy in a Britney Spears sort of way. She'd be considered a little controversial, not very appropriate for Christian music, I guess, but there she is dancing and rockin' out and singing about Jesus, so it's kinda funny. She's the little do-gooder who passes out Honesty rings." I think the funniest part of the interview was when realizing the popularity of the show Molly's response was "If I'd only known how cool True Blood is, I would have freaked out!" "Jesus Asked Me Out Today" is available on itunes, and has been added to the season 1 True Blood soundtrack. Sam Merlotte: A Brief History

sam-merlotte-4Sam Merlotte (played by Sam Trammel) is a male shape shifter in the HBO Series. True Blood which is based on the Sookie Stackhouse book series by Charlaine Harris. Sam makes his first appearance in the True Blood episode Strange Love. Sam owns the local bar called Merlotte's (after his last name) and holds a flame for the female lead character, Sookie Stackhouse. Sam Merlotte's Mysterious History in True Blood: Not much about Sam is revealed in the early episodes of True Blood, leading the audience to wonder if he is more than just the owner of a local bar. Later in season one it is revealed that Sam was adopted into a family who, on once learning of Sam's special ability left town while Sam was away from the house. The teenage Sam returns home to an empty house with everything, including his family gone. It is hinted in the last episodes of True Blood season one that Sam shares a secret past with a new character named Maryanne who arrives in town. This relationship is sure to be explored further in True Blood's season two. Sam Merlotte's Role in True Blood (Season One): SamMerlotte owns and operates the local bar in Bon Tempts called Merlotte's, where he manages Sookie Stackhouse, Tara Thornton, Arlene Fowler and numerous other characters who work at the same establishment. He lives on the property, but not in the bar itself. Sam's interest in Sookie Stackhouse is ignited when Bill Compton arrives in town, taking Sookie's interest.  In one point of season one, Sookie asks Sam why he is interested in her now that she has interest in someone else, and he replies that sometimes you don't see what is under your nose until it is taken away. Sam Merlotte's Romantic Involvement with Sookie Stackhouse: Sam Merlotte has slept with Tara Thornton on two occasions. Initially Tara's idea that Sam rejects, they have few more sexual encounters after Sam decides the option of a "free pass" might just work.  The non-relationship fumbles to an awkward end after Tara is picked up by Maryanne from the police station.  For some reason it is suggested that something deters Sam from interacting with MaryanneSam has also unsuccessfully made advances on Sookie Stackhouse, and due to bad timing was roughed up by Bill Compton. Hints Around Sam Merlotte's Story in True Blood Season Two: With the closure of Sam and Tara's interaction and Sam's inability to resolve any feelings he has for Sookie, season two for Sam could mean more romantic struggle.  The introduction of Maryanne signals that the audience will be exploring the secrets of Sam's past, something that has been bought up by many of the main characters as an oddity. It is often highlighted that no one in Bon Tempts know any further back than four years ago in Sam's life. Whether all of Sam's secrets will be explored, or if more questions will be asked the one sure thing is that season two of True Blood will be exciting. (Photo credit: HBO)

Ryan Kwanten "Flies by the Seat of His Pants" When Playing Jason.

jason-s2According to an interview with Fancast, Ryan describes his approach to playing all those hot, sexy scenes in HBO's True Blood as, "I just fly by the seat of my pants."  To which we ask, what pants?  The buff Ryan Kwanten chats about his frequently 'au natural' character Jason and proselytizes about season 2 of True Blood revealing plenty SPOILERS so beware those that don't want to know! When discussing the Church of the Light, Fancast asks, "Is this 'church' a full-fledged cult?" "Yeah," replies Ryan, "as more and more information unfolds, even someone as simple as Jason sees the cracks in the foundation. Reverend Steve Newlin tends to go a little AWOL, and he turns his God-loving group into a vampire-hating group. That's when Jason starts to question things" And when discussing the sexiness of vampires, Ryan disagrees.  "I don't know if I'd say they were sexy. To me the allure, I guess, is that it's the devil you don't know." Catch the rest of the article at: Fancast (Photo credit: HBO)
