Which True Blood Vampire Should Sookie Choose?

anna-stephen-alexExtraTV has a new poll on their website and they are asking True Blood fans the question: "Who Should Sookie (Anna Paquin) Choose?"  Should she stays with the dark, handsome 173  year old southern vampire, Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), who has sweeps her off her feet with his passion, charm  and romance.  A vampire who worships Sookie and would do anything for the woman he loves.  Or the blond 1000 viking vampire sheriff, Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard), who is use to getting what he wants and right now he is showing interesting in taking Sookie as his own.  Hmmm, a hard choice because both vampires are sexy in two very different ways.  So if you can choose, go and vote on ExtraTV by clicking the link here. True Blood's Dallas Vampire Stan Is Heading To The Big Apple

edquinnDallas vamp Stan Davis made his first appearance during the second season of  True Blood like a character from an old country western film, as if  he owned the night. He was tall, dark, handsome, and had a rugged appearance that made my heart skip a beat, another gorgeous guy added to the roster of True Blood.  I was secretly hoping he would get to use a rifle before his departure, seeing as he was trigger-happy, but sadly that never happened.  Unfortunately, he was one of the vampire fatalities during the explosion caused by Luke at Godric's home. He may have only been in three episodes of True Blood, but he made an everlasting impression playing Stan Davis and brought the character from Charlaine Harris' books to life.

The talented and handsome actor, Ed Quinn, played vampire Stan Davis. Perhaps you remember him as Nathan Stark from "Eureka"? Mr. Quinn is alive and well and is heading to the Big Apple to join the cast on CW's "The Beautiful Life". He is said to be playing Elle Macpherson's husband and will make his first appearance in mid-October.  "The Beautiful Life" is earning rave reviews and is slotted to premiere on September 16 at 9pm on The CW.

True Blood’s Deborah Ann Woll Signed To Co-Star In Little Murder

trueblood_jessica3Deborah Ann Woll, who portrays the young, newly made baby vamp, Jessica Hamby is finding plenty of work during her hiatus from Alan Ball's hit True Blood.  We were first introduced to Jessica at the end of season one when Bill's (Stephen Moyer) punishment was to create a new immortal life given that; he robbed Long Shadow of his immortality. Truth be told, I wasn't sure how I felt about the newly made vampire. My first instinct was, "Oh no,  she is going to come between Sookie and Bill's relationship!", but as time progressed and she slowly matured into her role, I find her to be quite refreshing and one of the funniest characters on the show. Not only is Deborah talented, but also a natural beauty. I hope she continues to grow as Jessica and I look forward to her interacting with more of the cast. It would be wonderful to see her interact with Pam, who is brilliantly played by Kristin Bauer or perhaps Nelsan EllisLafayette since they offer so much comic relief as well. While True Blood does not start filming Season 3 until December, Deborah will be working on another project entitled "Little Murder" written by Gerald DiPego (The Forgotten) and Justin DiPego. The film will be directed by Peter Antonijevic, and centers around a post-Katrina Louisiana police detective who is trying to find the killer of a beautiful cellist, with the aid of the murdered girl's ghost. Starring along with Deborah will be Josh Lucas, Lake Bell and Terrence Howard. The film is set to be released sometime in 2010. In the meantime, don't miss Jessica and the cast of True Blood in the season finale of Season Two, on Sunday night at 9pm on HBO! I know we are all anxiously awaiting the fate of so many of our favorite towns people and vampires from Bon Temps. Talkin' TrueBlood with Rusty: Hotel Design Questions Answered

on-bed-togetherRecently Amy asked us:

I'm on a quest to find the fabulous hotel bedding in episodes 8 & 9. Do you have any idea where I can find it?

So we asked Rusty Lipscomb who was the designer for season 1 of True Blood.  She was kind enough to look into it and replies:

The duvet covers were custom made-silk in medium charcoal gray for Jessica's room and deep eggplant color for Sookie and Bill's room. Coverlets and shams in grey silk were from Restoration Hardware.  The sheets are from Bed, Bath and Beyond and are ivory 600 count cotton. The scene with Lorena had the same sheets in dark charcoal. For the dream sequence with Sookie and Eric in bed, the ivory satin sheets were purchased online.

Wow NICE!  Silk and 600 count cotton sheets for a few episodes of a TV show!  I guess they wanted to put the actors in the mood! (As will be confirmed by Deborah in an upcoming exclusive interview with TrueBloodNet.com so stay tuned!)

in-bed-snuggles

Candice asked almost on cue! :

I love the art and decor in the bedrooms of the vampire hotel they stay in while searching for Godric. Can you give me details on the artist or set decorator please?

To which Rusty replies:

My friend, Laura Richarz, is the season 2 set decorator!

Nominated four times for an Emmy, three times for her work on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (along with Herman F. Zimmerman: production designer and Randall McIlvain: art director) and once for her work on "New Love, American Style" (along with Dahl Delu: art director and Lisette Thomas: set decorator) Laura has been in the business almost 30 years starting back in 1981 on "Three's Company", her work includes such great shows as "Cheers" and "Six Feet Under".

Thanks Rusty!

Mehcad Brooks Interview At The Final Destination 4 Premiere

mehcad-brooks-interviewMehcad Brooks, best known as Benedict "Eggs" Talley on Alan Ball's hit HBO TV vampire series True Blood recently attended The Final Destination 4 Premiere where Rebecca Murray from About.com had the opportunity to interview him on the red carpet.  Mehcad was a delight to watch and listen to as he discussed some of the wardrobe he had to wear for the show (the infamous "sock), the storyline and a little tidbit about Stephen Moyer on the set of True Blood that will surely generate lots of giggles. It is apparent that everyone on the show gets along extremely well and seem to all have a great time working together.  We would like to express a sincere thank you to Rebecca Murray for informing us about her interview with Mehcad so we may present the information to all True Blood fans. Kristin Bauer Interview with PopWrap

true-blood-spoilers-eric2While Eric was away in Dallas, Pam has been taking care of the business at Fangtasia. This week on True Blood, she's back and looking like she stepped out of a 1980's party. Kristin Bauer spoke with PopWrap of the New York Post about what she thinks about Pam, Eric, and Sookie. Like the Lafayette videos on the Season one Blu-Ray DVD, Pam shares her cynical thoughts with us on the Season two Blu-Ray set. This has given Kristin some interesting insights into her character's history:
"She was turned by Eric 100 years ago but released, so she's no longer bound to him but she's so in love and couldn't be more loyal. Whatever he says, she will do."
Kristin also had some of her questions answered about who Pam was as a human:
"Before being turned she was living with her wealthy and very provincial parents. She says, 'Small men were lining up for me to be auctioned off to, and then this big Viking showed up and split my world apart...and Eric likes to joke that my legs did, too.' "
Kristin has only read the first book in Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series because she loves the surprises in the show. She is hoping that Pam will have a lot of fun stuff to do in Season three, based on what she has heard about Eric's storyline and how Sookie and Pam handle that situation. Kristin also discussed how concerned her character is about Sookie becoming so important in Eric's life. Recording Pam's commentary, she made fun of Bill for being a sentimental fool about Sookie, but now she's worried:
"Eric's got a bit of a Sookie thing, too. She said, 'If he makes her, I'll have to deal with it.' "
As for Pam's cryptic instructions from Eric for Lafayette to start selling V again, Kristin says the reason will be revealed eventually. Like every True Blood actor in an interview, she was hesitant to give anything away:
"We're a little unsure what Alan [Ball, creator] would do if we spilled a big secret! It actually makes me sweat a little during interviews [laughs]."
The conversation turned to her recent marriage and how Pam's confidence helped her get there:
"I was tired of being the only single adult at Christmas. So I thought, I'm going to do something! ... So I was at my nutritionist and there was this CD on the only open seat. The woman next to me was playing it on her computer and went on and on about how amazing Abri [van Straten, lead singer of the Lemmings] was. So I went online and bought the record ... I listened to it for three weeks and tracked him down. So I sent an e-mail and didn't hear back so I sent another, and another and [his people] finally gave me his number. We went for coffee on Jan. 14. Then we went out again on Jan. 18 and we haven't been apart since."
What a sweet story from Kristin! As for Pam, it's a good thing she's reappearing for the end of Season two--we need a little comedy to go with our Maryann insanity. SOURCE: blogs.nypost.com (Photo credit: HBO Inc.)

Romantic Dilemma Brewing For Sookie Stackhouse On True Blood

Sookie's True Blood MenMTV's Hollywood Crush asks True Blood fans to "find out which Bon Temps Man is your Perfect Match."  It's looking more and more like Alan Ball is setting up poor Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) for a tough choice.  Maybe Sookie should take a look at MTV's handy guide so she can make a more informed decision. She's already taken a pass on "the do-good loner," Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) in Season 1. You know the type, the one that would bring you breakfast in bed than ditch you for the big game. The only problem is you don't really know him since he won't tell you about his childhood. With current flame, Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), he has lit Sookie's passion and won her love. It seems that Sookie loves:
"The southern gentleman. A guy who'll open doors, carry your packages and even risk frying in the sun to ensure your safety."
He is the quintessential man (vampire) who sweeps you all your feet with his southern charm and makes you feel that you are the most important person in the world to him and you would always know that his love for you is eternal. However, now that Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) is making a play for Sookie and has tricked her into drinking some of his thousand-year-old blood, she's finding that he's more than the tough guy we got to know in Season 1.  She's learning that Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) is:
The bad boy with the big heart. Your guy is like a Tootsie Pop: hard on the outside, but soft and gooey on the inside — once he lets you in, that is.
Sookie's dilemma will likely not be resolved in Season 2, so viewers have a lot more romantic drama to look forward to with Season 3. Which Bon Temps man would you choose?  Maybe you crave the wise, old soul type. A man who knows a lot about himself and the world around him.  If that is the case then Godric (Allen Hyde) would be the one to fulfill your fantasies. Perhaps you prefer the brawny, blue-collar worker type who always looks good with his shirt off and you don't mind having to teach him a few things about staying away from the wrong crowd.  He could sure teach you a few things that you never knew about as well.  Then your type would be Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) who is adorable both inside and out. If you like your man to be good with his hands and a good fixer-upper but,  don't mind he has a few skeletons in his closet then Eggs (Mehcad Brooks) is the one for you.  The perfect guy to nurture those old wounds that are not visible on the surface. Or maybe you just want some fun-loving guy you can party with and not worry he will every take advantage of you and will always tell you the truth about how you look in those jeans. If you want a man like that then Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) is the guy you want.  You may not be his type but, you would always know you can rely on him to be there for you when things get tough. Check out MTV's perfect match descriptions to see all the choices. SOURCE: MTV's Hollywood Crush (Photo Credit: HBO Inc.)

True Blood Invaded by Dead Space

trueblood_wiiFor those of us True Blood fans out there, it's not a new fact that Bill Compton owns a Nintendo Wii. He didn't seem to pleased when he and Sookie went to the house and found out Maxine wasn't herself, and the only remedy to keep her under control was to play Bill's Wii. Makes you wonder with Bill playing games like this, maybe that is why he seems to be always so calm? I don't know about you, but my curiosity went haywire after seeing that clip of Maxine going crazy on a game that I definitely wanted to sink my teeth into. After doing some research, we found out that a gaming company by the name of EA is doing a prequel type game to the successful Dead Space series. For those of you who own gaming systems and love the horror survival genre (I do), this game is for you.  Its appearance created a series of questions: "Why did it appear on True Blood?", "When can I get it, and what else exists that has do with this twisted game?" To answer theses questions let's start by thinking rationally, shall we? True Blood is one, of if not, the hottest show on television right now. So what better place to market a cool game like Dead Space:  Extraction? Secondly, the majority of True Blood's audience consists of Mature audience (and this game is rated for mature audiences) Nintendo strays from accidentally scaring the crap out of little kids, and stays out of trouble with would be mad parents. Finally, what else is on TV that ties in with the game? There was a movie that was released called Dead Space:  Downfall.
The plot:   in the distant future, due to interstellar space travel advancements, humanity has started setting up massive mining operations on other planets. Alien life has not been discovered yet, but a certain mining site uncovers a ancient and mysterious artifact which seems to be related to a religious current that places a similar object at its base. The massive artifact is being prepared to be transported to Earth on a transport ship but upon its arrival strange events take place involving the personnel of the mining facility. Paranoia, delusions and a unexplained wave of violent incidents among the miners. The source of these increasingly strange events starts pointing more and more towards the alien object, and the senior security officer on the ship is the only one that seems to foresee the danger.
The action develops quite intensely from there, so I don't want to give to much more away. Then you have the original Ps3 game,"Dead Space".  The player takes the role of Isaac Clarke (named after science fiction writers Isaac Asimov and Arthur C Clarke, an engineer who must fight his way through a stricken mining ship infested with hostile, grotesque monstrosities called Necromorphs, which are human corpses transformed and reanimated by an unknown alien organism. The game features an 'over the shoulder' third-person perspective, similar to the game-play in"Resident Evil 5" and "Gears of War". Players can upgrade modules, including suit and weapons. Its definitely worth checking out.  I would highly recommend checking these games out, just be cautious you don't run into Maxine while trying to purchase them. She might wanna come over and play with you. Tune into True Blood this Sunday at 9pm on HBO to see what other surprises might show up, and to see if Maxine advances out of the current level she's stuck in. True Blood Vampires The New Bad Boys In Town

bill-and-sookie-posterGone are the days of leather jackets, bad attitudes, and cigarettes.  The new bad boy just has to have fangs.  With True Blood and Twilight gaining so much popularity, it has females viewing vampires as sex symbols.  Stephen Moyer, the actor who portrays Bill Compton on HBO's True Blood, expressed his thoughts in the latest issue of Nylon.  He says:
"The thing about vampirism is that it taps into a female point of view-you have an old-fashioned gentleman with manners who is a f***ing killer...it's an interesting duality, because in our present society it would be an odd thing for a woman to say, 'I want a man to be physical with me'...It's difficult for a bloke, but a vampire gets away with it."
Tressugar.com listed the top five reasons they believe vampires are the new bad boys.  They are as follows:
  1. They're bad, but not too bad. In books and movies, vampires are dangerous. But since most of us aren't dealing with vampires in real life-it's a safe danger to fantasize about.
  2. Substance abuse isn't sexy. Sure, drinking blood is kind of gross, but it's also fantasy. For many teens, a fictional need to suck blood is easier to stomach than rebels with serious abuse issues like drinking, drugs, and DUIs.
  3. Eternal youth means eternal hotness. Vampires never age, therefore making them hot young things-like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt circa Interview With a Vampire-for all eternity.
  4. Vampires=4-eva. Along with that whole eternity thing comes the possibility that vampire love can last forever. No commitment issues here!
  5. They're dark and mysterious. The whole concept of vampires appeals to fans of conspiracy theories and the idea that an unknown world just waits to be discovered.
I believe that this appeal has grown, because vampires are finally being portrayed the right way on the small and big screen.  With vampires, you have to bring sexiness and romanticism and less gore.  They are after-all supposed to be the ultimate sexual creature that can captivate and sweep you away just by gazing in your direction.  That's the fantasy in it all.  And I say fantasize away, it's a lot safer than the real bad boys of the world. Anna Paquin's Healthy Lifestyle

anna-1When it comes to staying in shape, Anna Paquin knows how to make good choices. After all, her True Blood character, Sookie Stackhouse, gives her body plenty of exposure on national television. But more than looking good, Anna makes healthy decisions to keep herself feeling good. She is a very active person and enjoys lots of different things. She says that she is "obsessed with Pilates." She also goes swimming in the ocean, is learning how surf, rides her bike, and has taken some trapeze classes. Being on a television series sometimes requires actors to work 18-hour days. Anna finds time to take naps and give her body rest. She also stays out of unhealthy habits, but says,
"Kombucha and coffee are my two biggest vices."
(For those of you who are wondering, Kombucha is a type of tea.) It's lovely that Anna seems like a celebrity who cares about staying healthy, but not about starving herself to stay thin. She talks about avoiding unhealthy habits instead of denying herself every food she enjoys. And she clearly exercises in ways that are fun for her. All of that in addition to her demanding job on True Blood! SOURCE: fitsugar.com (Photo credit: Pamela Hanson)

True Blood takes a bite out of DVD sales

true-blood-dvd-2As the second season of True Blood starts to wind down, fans still can't get enough of the first season. August 16th was the end of the week and marked True Blood as the top selling TV show on DVD. Sure it was a slow week with only 90210's first season being released on DVD. Fortunately for True Blood, the new series didn't even reach the top 30 in sales. True Blood sales brought in an additional $1.59 million, bringing the DVD franchise closer to $46 million in total sales. That is a huge number, even so when they had competition during the week. Mad Men was reported as falling off the list for a few weeks, but surprisingly made a comeback during the week. The AMC TV series had the second best sales for a TV show with $1.17 million. True Blood is still holding its ground, making it the 11th best selling DVD of the season. The only other TV show in the top 50 is Kiefer Sutherland's hit 24 at the number 50 slot. Though the hit HBO series has been raking in the sales, the show is still trailing in actual units sold for the week. The Flight of the Conchords second season has been listed at a much lower price on Amazon.com. The price is almost $20 lower than both True Blood and Mad Men. So make sure you visit your favorite retail outlet or Amazon.com this week to pick up a copy of True Blood and keep their numbers rising. Next week we'll see if True Blood can hold their spot and add to the total of overall sales.

Michelle Forbes Reflects on Maryann with Black Book Magazine

michelleforbesWhen Maryann entered the scene on "True Blood" at the end of Season one, none of us could have predicted the chaos she would create. Played to chilling perfection by Michelle Forbes, Maryann is at once creative and destructive, poised and lunatic. Anyone who has seen Forbes' previous work would probably be surprised by her turn as the hedonistic Maenad on "True Blood." Whether she was portraying Lynne Kresge on "24," Admiral Cain on "Battlestar Galactica," or Kate on "In Treatment," Michelle Forbes always brought great gravitas to her characters. But in "True Blood," she plays someone who has no restraint and exhibits extreme emotions from every end of the spectrum. That is probably why she accepted the role. As she tells Black Book Magazine in a recent interview, Maryann has been the most fun she's ever had at work. When asked how she adjusted to playing such a drastically different character, Michelle responded:
"[Maryann] tends to laugh at all the things that would fill the rest of us with terror. Initially it was suffocating to sit in her expansiveness. Most of us are led by fear or guilt or sorrow. She's absolutely fearless. Then it became the most fun game in the world."
She found Maryann to be so liberating; it was her job to go around causing mischief, while wearing evening dresses. Because it was such a departure from the intense work she usually does, she says that "it was nice to shake it off and get dirty and dance a little." Even though Alan Ball told her something of the Greek mythology that would come to explain who Maryann is, Michelle says that the character is still a mystery to her. What she does stand by is that Maryann is not evil:
"I do believe that she's a character that's all about perspective. If you think that this is an immortal being. She's been around since the beginning of time. She's lived in certain periods of our humanity, where there were people who would sit and watch other men tear each other apart for sport. Children were sacrificed. It's not unheard of in history. In her mind, she's seen it all. I think what's great about the storyline is that it challenges our belief system. You and I can sit here in 2009 and say it's outrageous that someone would sacrifice humans. My belief system, as a vegetarian, can't believe that animals are being sacrificed. I stand by that in Maryann's mind, there's nothing malevolent. She has a different way of looking at the world."
A different way of looking at the world that includes cutting up people's hearts into a hunter's souffle. Of that scene, Michelle says that her cooking skills are so bad that she had to take a flambe lesson to do it right. One of the things she loves about Maryann is her duality:
"That primal, feral wild-child side of her. Then this other side. That's domestic and loves arranging flowers and fruit and the spread of food. And loves to dig in the dirt."
When discussing the show in general, Michelle is effusive in praise of her fellow actors and of the writers for telling such complex, beautiful stories. She relates to all of the characters on different levels. The way she talks about "True Blood," you can tell that she is a huge fan, just like the rest of us and she found it a joy to work on the show. That amazing experience she had is shared by us all in watching Maryann's storyline evolve over the course of Season two. Here at the end, it has pulled every single character into it somehow. The resolution promises to blow us all away! SOURCE: blackbookmag.com (Photo credit: HBO, Inc.)

Warning: The UK Has Been Bitten By True Blood

bill-sookieTrue Blood is taking a bite out of viewers one country at a time. First it was North America, pulling us in with characters we love and nonstop suspense. Does anybody else hate when the ending comes? It leaves you screaming for more. HBO and director Alan Ball seem to love leaving us each week on a cliffhanger. No doubt about it, the next Sunday we'll be turning  on the television set to see what kind of trouble Sookie Stackhouse finds herself wrapped up in.

In July, another area of the world got their first bite. FX in Europe began airing the popular HBO series on both Friday and Sunday nights. Guardian.co.uk is one website in the UK that has been blogging each week about spoilers and reviewing the recently viewed episodes. It wasn't that long ago when The Guardian's Grace Dent talked about her avid watching of True Blood. Her article gives us five reasons why she can't seem to get enough. Her first sentence "I thought I didn't like vampire shows – but one bite of True Blood and I was hooked" hits the nail on the head for a lot of us, myself included. Let's see what her reasons are for not being able to turn off the television set whenever True Blood is on.

1. She loves it because she's not supposed to. Some of us can relate to her not really being  into vampires. When we think of vampires, we think of Anne Rice's characters portrayed by Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. They are dark and mysterious, not necessarily showing a side where they could love someone or be likable themselves. Dent said the only reason she tried True Blood was because of who it was created by, Alan Ball, and his other hits, like Six Feet Under and American Beauty. It's a good reason. You know of someone's work and want to check out what else they've worked on and done as of late. Like most of us, Dent admits that after the first episode she was trying to find others to tune into the show and follow the story of Sookie Stackhouse. Even the idea that vampires are mainstreaming has embedded itself into her mind – I know that she can't be the only one who thinks about it from time to time.

2. She loves Bon Temps, Louisiana. Really, who couldn't love that little town? If you are a big city dweller, then you love the appeal of a smaller town where life isn't in such a rush. There is no commuter traffic-- yes, you envy the fact that it takes Sookie only a few minutes to get to work. The laid back lifestyle is something you crave – to be able to slow down and smell the roses or to stop by Merlotte's after work would be like heaven. For all the small town folk,  Bon Temps is like home. It's the city where everybody knows each other and looks out for one another. So when vampires begin to enter Bon Temps, you start to wonder how that would effect your little piece of the world. Don't lie to yourself; I know you've done it because I have. Would your little community turn upside down if Bill Compton, Eric Northman, and all the rest filtered into your city?

3. She loves Bill and Sookie. It's no surprise she mentioned them as the "it" couple of the series. Even all the Eric/Sookie fans must admit that there is just something cute, adorable, and lovable about Bill and Sookie's relationship. There is chemistry both on and off the screen that anybody can see – their real-life engagement lock in the idea. Bill Compton is such a gentleman, asking if it's okay if he calls on Sookie and being polite to everyone in town. To top that off, how he played with Arlene's kids – that would hold a special place in any girl's heart. Of course, their relationship isn't all peaches and cream. The small town of Bon Temps wasn't quick to take on the idea of "fang bangers" as well as their first interracial relationship – if that's what you could call it. But like any relationship, Bill and Sookie have been passing each test that has been thrown their way. We'll see if it holds true, that is if Eric Northman has anything to say about it.

bill-sookie-walk4. She loves Tara Thornton. Dent gives props to Sookie's best friend and how she manages to stay on the right side of adorable. She's the type of girl Dent says represents "slightly unhinged women, not taking this shit no more and not making a whole lot of sense but clearly enjoying showing it." Grace Dent also thinks that Tara gets all the best lines in True Blood. For example, when Tara pointed out to Sam who she was--that she was the girl he's been fucking. Don't forget the line she gave about being married and her husband shot the last guy who bought her a CD in the nuts. I wonder if Dent's love for Tara will continue when season two starts to play in the UK and she sees Tara get into trouble with Maryanne. Let's hope so, for Tara Thornton's sake.

5. She loves Merlotte's Bar & Grill. Seriously, who doesn't? Grace Dent even mentioned how it reminded her of Cheers and that is actually what I thought of when I first saw Merlotte's in True Blood. You walk in, and everybody knows your name. The waitresses know your drink orders before you sit down and, of course, the bar owner is sleeping with one of his employees. Though, Dent reminds us that there are times  when strangers enter Merlotte's.  For example,  Malcolm, Liam, and Diana walked into Merlotte's when they stopped by to get Bill Compton's attention. Nonetheless,  Merlotte's is the place to be as there is always something happening. You could go looking for a burger and fries to eat, or maybe tonight is the night you want to score some V. Dent doesn't leave  anyone out when mentioning  Merlotte's Bar and Grill. You need a new wife, Dent says, Arlene is the waitress always needing a husband. If you need a fight, Tara is there and waiting. And of course, if you are looking for some fun in the sack, Jason Stackhouse is the man you call on when you're at Merlotte's.

She gives her five reasons as to why she bit into the series and finished it in a few days. Grace Dent is eagerly awaiting the start of season two. She also mentioned that if she starts rambling on about Twilight or Robert Pattinson next, then we all have permission to stake her. The same applies to me.

Five Things You Didn't Know About Jace Everett

Credit: JaceEverett.com
Sunday night as people begin to turn on their television sets, one voice rings out before Sookie Stackhouse asks what her latest table would like to drink. The voice belongs to Indiana native Jace Everett who is singing about wanting to do "Bad Things." With his album Red Revelations out now, People magazine sat down and found out five interesting things about this country blues singer that the average fan may not know.

Inspiration: HBO's hit show "True Blood" picked Everett's song "Bad Things" for its theme song. Every "True Blood" fan knows the lyrics by heart and can picture the opening credits in their mind. There are times we can find ourselves even humming along. Though Everett stated he wrote the song awhile ago, he isn't shy about letting people know that the show has helped him write new songs. The infamous scene at the end of season one where Bill Compton goes out into the sunlight to try and save Sookie Stackhouse inspired Jace Everett to write his song "Burn For You." Another song on his album titled "Damned if I Do" is, he lets People know, a love song . He's sure to let readers know that he has never been in love with a vampire, but the song itself could be geared towards a vampire and a human.

Doing What Kids Do: Many people would admit to doing silly things as a child. Putting snakes in your sister's bed or perhaps pinching your brother till he cried -- they sound like typical things but not to Jace Everett. He recalls being bitten many times growing up. One fight that he believes was about a girl resulted in the other kid losing his ear lobe. Yes an ear lobe, Mike Tyson style. It seems he had a knack of being vampire like, even as a child. Perhaps that is why his song "Bad Things" seemed to fit just perfectly with the show "True Blood."

Singing Isn't His Only Talent. Well Maybe: He's good looking, plays guitar and can serenade any woman off of her feet. What could be better? He speaks French. Though ladies, don't get too excited. He'll be the first to tell you that his French is terrible; it's like talking to a toddler. He's trying and has a good coach helping him along the way. His 13 year old son lives in the south of France and has become quite fluent in the language – he isn't bashful in correcting his father's lack of punctuation or grammar.

Wherever He Goes, They Follow: Though he isn't headlining big tours like Brad Paisley or Toby Keith, Jace Everett is making his own fans in the country world. In his interview with People magazine, he talks about one woman who traveled 16 hours on a train from Sacramento to see him in Salem, Ore. She ran into some problems, got arrested and missed the show. Sadly, the fan arrived just as the band was packing up. Jace gave her a hug. There was a previous mishap where Everett misspelled her name and this time she wanted to make sure he got it right. "She had an agenda," he joked. Some fans will do whatever it takes to meet their favorite musicians, especially if their name wasn't written correctly. Let's hope she doesn't have a run in with the law next time she goes to visit Mr. Everett.

Jace Everett to the rescue: His dog Teddy had parvo, a disease which attacks a dog's intestinal lining in the digestive system, killing cells. Teddy had been in the hospital for five days when Jace found him in the backyard with a bunch of other dogs. The parvo virus is a very serious disease and can spread to other dogs that are not protected. His terrier mutt is not safe at home in Nashville where Jace Everett can take care of him. "I run with my dog everyday," he tells People. "He's so sweet and so full of fun." Talk about a sweetheart. We will have to add this trait to another one of his good qualities.

There is a little insight to the man behind the voice that draws viewers in each week as the opening credits roll. Don't forget to head over to People's Web site and listen to Jace's song "Burn For You" inspired by Bill Compton's heroic efforts to save his love, Sookie Stackhouse. I highly recommend it. Also, if you find yourself at your local records store, don't forget to pick up a copy of Red Revelations that contains the other True Blood-inspired song, "Damned If I Do."

Evan Rachel Wood Talks About the Queen

evan-rachel-wood-true-blood_319x287A bloody foot was all we saw at the frustratingly early end of Episode 10, but this Sunday, "Frenzy" promises a formal introduction to Evan Rachel Wood as Queen Sophie-Anne, the vampire monarch of Louisiana. Bill went to her for help in defeating Maryann, but things are probably going to be much more complicated than we think--they always are. Marc Malkin of E!Online interviewed Evan about the Queen, and she offered up a few teasers that fill the imagination with all sorts of possibilities. The questions were mostly about who she is going to be hooking up with. While she wouldn't tell whether Sophie-Anne gets with either Bill or Eric, she had this to say:
"Well, I don't know if I am having sex with anyone yet, but I certainly have a steamy scene with someone that I don't think you'd really expect. So it will be a little fun."
But, Evan did give a straightforward answer when asked if she is on Team Eric or Team Bill:
"I would say, Team Alex--Eric! Whoops."
Most of us have probably heard that the Queen likes female companionship, but she could end up being intimate with anybody:
"She's not necessarily a lesbian. Her human partner is a girl, but I'm pretty sure she goes both ways. I think vampires are like that in general."
Since she's going to be a recurring character in Season 3, Sophie-Anne has the potential to mix things up for all of the characters. Evan also shared how she got the part on True Blood:
"I watched the first season and loved the show, so I got in touch with Alan Ball and said, 'Keep an eye out for anything that might pop up.' I thought it was a long shot, but then later on I got a call saying they needed a queen...I said yes, even before I read the script. I didn't really care."
So, even though we don't know what Alan Ball has planned for Queen Sophie-Anne, it is definitely going to be crazier and more surprising than whatever we expect--Season 2 has taught us that much!! SOURCE: eonline.com (Photo credit: HBO, Inc.)

True Blood Season 2 Spoilers: More Plot Tidbits

queen-sophie-anne-episode-11SPOILER ALERT!  DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF DO NOT WANT TO KNOW!  Ok you have been warned.  With only 2 episodes left in season 2 of Alan Ball's highly successful HBO TV vampire series True Blood, you would think there would no more spoilers to give out.  Well it seems we are wrong as various cast members from the show shared some spoiler information about what we will be see in the remaining two episodes and answered some questions.  Recently they spoke with Jennifer Godwin from E!Online at the Nylon Magazine Party where they provided some insider information. Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynold) revealed some interesting information about the radiating light that appeared from Sookie's hand:
"Well, I read the books, so I think she's part fairy. That was her fairy power." According to Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton), "[Sookie's power] is a funky little thing," but she also tells us the show won't answer that question for certain any time in season two."
When asked who is going to help Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) out of trouble, Tara Buck, who plays Fangtasia waitress Ginger said:
"We've got Sam (Sam Trammell) running from Maryann (Michelle Forbes), and he may actually..." Tara wants to keep her job, so she couldn't tell us everything, but we have it good authority that he may actually seek refuge with Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) and Pam (Kristin Bauer) at Fangtasia in Shreveport, La."
Many people are asking what is going to happen with Maryann and her character.  Well it appears that "Maryann will be vanquished, but no one character will  single-handedly takes her out, but rather it will be a group effort by all of the good guys." Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler) was asked if Arlene and Terry are going to stay together. She said:
"When you're possessed on the show, the next day, you don't remember. So they can start over—like a reset, a reboot. I think Arlene is constantly searching for the perfect man, and maybe he's going to be the one. I don't know."
In regards to Tara and Eggs' relationship issues,  Rutina said that Tara does have feeling for Eggs because she has opened up to him so much, which may actually be the first she has ever done so with anyone in a relationship. The only problem is will she be able to get him away from Maryann's clutches. This Sunday we will see, for the first time, Evan Rachel Wood as Queen Sophie-Anne and we will discover that the Queen is hooked up with Sookie's cousin, Hadley Hale (Lindsey Haun). So get prepared for the mind-blowing episodes left in season 2 by tuning in on Sundays at 9pm EDT on HBO for some True Blood. SOURCE: E!Online.com (Photo credit:  HBO Inc.)

True Blood Love Triangle

Hoyt & His Newfound Love InterestThere is certainly an interesting "love triangle" of sorts developing on True Blood, however it is probably not the kind of love triangle that normally comes to mind.  Though it is not the one that appears to be developing between Sookie and two of the hottest vampires, it does involve heat – heated arguments, that is.  Yes, I am speaking of Hoyt, Jessica and of course, Hoyt's mother. Hoyt's mother – the typical bitter, mad at the world spurned woman – and she is not going to make things easy for Hoyt, especially when it comes to his relationship with Jessica.  Now that she is under Mary Ann's spell, there is just no telling how heated things will get. Hoyt – what can we say about him?  He's goofy, but sweet and has the best of intentions.  He's brow beaten by his mother, to say the least – and he is totally enamored with Jessica.  Though he started out a relatively unseen character, he is certainly becoming central to the dynamics of the True Blood series.  Hoyt is growing up.  He is maturing and learning that he cannot continue to let the world push him around, or else he will never leave his mother's nest. Jessica is probably one of the funniest characters and very likely one to whom many young women can relate.  Her home life is not that different than those of a lot of other females – strong father/weak mother – and that can make for a bad combination when that female is finally let out into the real world.  Quite often, those types of girls become the prey for those seeking to corrupt everything and everyone around them.  And so it was with Jessica that fateful night she met the vampires.  It is truly interesting to watch Jessica mature as well.  She is finally leaving her shell and growing into her own.  She should be grateful that it is with someone like Hoyt; it is so obvious to see how much he cares for her.  He means her no harm and only wants to take care of her.  It will be fun to see how their relationship plays out.  Will she "make him"?  We know what just took place on Episode 10 - or do we?  We could see the attack coming.  We were pretty certain that Hoyt's mother would anger Jessica to the point of attack - and who could blame her for lashing out?  His mother is a piece of work, to say the least. Hoyt's mother certainly can bring out that kind of uncontrollable anger.  She is the stereotypical, small-town/small minded, gossip queen that plagues so many of our communities.  She starts off sweet like honey and by the end of the conversation, one can feel the poison just oozing from her deepest, darkest places.  Though Hoyt is the quiet type, I have a feeling that he has the ability to flip his mother's world upside down.  She would be wise to give Jessica a chance, but I think we all know that is not going to happen. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.  As the end of Season 2 really ramps up, I have a feeling, Hoyt and Jessica will become one hot item – and his mother - well, what happens to her is left to be seen.  Suffice it to say, it probably will not be good.  She would probably make the most irritating vampire of all time, should it turn out that Jessica has "made" her.  I chuckle to think of that.

True Blood Continues To Set Viewer Records

1448424_f520To our question, "Can True Blood Surpass the 5 Million Mark for the Season Finale?," the answer is a resounding, "YES." Episode 10, "New World in My View," pulled in 5.3 million viewers, up 20 percent over last week's 4.5 million. Now I think the question becomes, can the Season 2 finale on Sept. 13 get an audience of 6, or even 7, million people? Rough estimates show that factoring in replay, DVR, and On-Demand showings brings the viewership up to about 11 million. So it's a definite possibility that the 9 p.m. show will keep breaking records, and even become as large as HBO's legacy, The Sopranos. True Blood seems to be like an unstoppable train, and HBO is certainly enjoying the ride. Ratings are soaring into the "Great for any cable show, but fantastic for HBO" numbers, and sales on the Season 1 DVD are reaching $46 million. Normally, a show would lose viewers as the season progresses. That's natural, given that so much promotional hype is put in for the premiere. So why is True Blood defying this trend? I imagine that more and more people are seeing the buzz it stirs in the media and on the internet. It's gone from a cult hit with a small but devoted following, to a pop culture phenomenon that cannot be ignored. They might think, "I'll just watch Season 1. Just to see what the fuss is about." Then they get hooked on the V! And they become obsessed with it, and convince their friends to watch it, and here we all are! This success is well deserved, and it's wonderful to see happening for our much loved show. HBO is going to want to keep this one around for a loooong time. And we are only too happy to let them. "True Blood's" Angels And Demons

HOLLYWOOD—Sunday night's episode of "True Blood" titled "I Will Rise Up" was heartbreaking and entertaining. When the previous episode "Time Bomb" ended, a terrorist from the Fellowship of the Light Church had arrived and pressed the button detonating the bomb he was wearing on his chest in order to kill the vampires who were gathered at Godric's home.

Sunday night we learned that only a few vampires perished in the explosion but many were affected by the outcome. Godric, the 2000-year-old vampire, loved by fans, survived the initial explosion and many of the vampires managed to heal themselves. Eric used the event to not only protect the human Sookie, who is Bill's lover, but he also fooled her into drinking some of his blood which means the two have a permanent bond. Fans can see the romance between Sookie and Eric building. Some are happy, most are not. Bill, played by Stephen Moyer, still has a huge group of fans who want to see him and Sookie, played by Anna Paquin, work out.

ryankwanten3torsoangelwings-bEric who is portrayed by handsome and talented actor Alexander Skarsgard had a very big storyline on Sunday. Eric's maker Godric was prominently featured and the connection the two characters had was very deep and spiritual. Eric is forever changed by what transpired on Sunday. He and Sookie not only have a bond now that cannot be broken, but fans saw a different side of the often cold and calculating vampire, who grieved and cried for the loss of his maker.

Fan of the series Steve Macek said, "One thing I love about True Blood is that they have not simply regurgitated Charlaine Harris' novels on the small screen. Instead, watching each episode becomes a parallel universe experience, where characters that you may have seen meet their end on paper may be alive and well on screen, but the overall story arcs are preserved. The beauty of the small screen version is that some of the more minor characters are really fleshed out [sic]."

Wendy Johnston has enjoyed the series from another perspective, she says, "Absolutely the most compelling drama on TV! I thought at first this would be another one of my husband's far-out sci-fi fantasy shows, but one episode had me hooked. Now I'm reading all the books on which the series is based."

This has become a series for couples to enjoy. Steve Macek's beautiful genius wife Alina is also hooked on V and the series as well.

After the initial shock wore off viewers that all of our most beloved vampires survived the terrorist attack, we were shocked to see the vampire bureaucrat fire Godric as Sheriff. He was blamed for being kidnapped by the Reverend Steve's flock and also for not having the foresight to see the impending attack at his nest. Godric protected his friends and Sookie tried her best to make it known that Godric had saved her from being raped and murdered. His punishment was secured by his own words. Godric chose death. Whatever he endured while in captivity seemed to weigh on the Christ-like figure. He willingly gave up his life. Eric begged his maker to not offer his life as a sacrifice, but Godric ordered Eric to leave.

Anna Paquin's emotional scenes with Godric in his final moments as he theorized his punishment by God for being a vampire and then his joy at being able to see a sunrise for the first time in over 2000 years was eclipsed by his destruction by sunlight, which burned the vampire into ashes on the roof of a building. It was sad but uplifting to watch Godric's ascension into death with such dignity and grace.

Sookie and Eric are both forever changed, as Eric lost his maker and Sookie witnessed the lonely death of a vampire who was considered godly to many of the other vampires. She also was plagued by seductive dreams of Eric, whose blood she ingested in order to save his life, only to find out that he was healing himself and had actually lied because her help was not necessary for his life to be saved. Her anger soon turned to a burgeoning obsession of Eric.

Sacrifices in Dallas were plenty. Jason and Sookie had the most moving scenes in the episode as they both spoke of losing their grandmother and their innocence in their childhood by losing their parents so early as well. Ryan Kwanten showed "True Blood" fans and viewers that he has the stuff of actors. Playing a dummy or a nit wit sometimes seems easy, but it's not. His dramatic side was a welcomed sight for fans and critics who wanted to know that he was much more than a pretty face. He proved he is a strong actor as well.

However, the main sacrifice on Sunday luckily never occurred. Satan in the form of Maryann went to the jail back in Bon Temps, which means "good times" in French. There were very little good times in the town that is being ravaged by Satan, who is demanding the town's people turn over Sam Merlotte played brilliantly by actor Sam Trammell. Maryann thought she'd had her victim when she went to the jail and possessed Sheriff Dearborn played by character actor William Sanderson. She released her minions from their cells and went to find Sam, who had luckily shape-shifted into a fly and got away from Satan just in a nick of time.

Maryann was very unhappy, who then went to Sam's bar and demanded that the bar patrons and Sam's workers give her what she wanted. "Your god demands his sacrifice, where is Sam Merlotte?" She later went home, which is Sookie's house, and possessed Tara and Eggs again, which she's been doing for weeks now. Tara's cousin Lafayette and her mother arrived to find her drinking and eyes black as coal. Lafayette beat Eggs and got Tara out of the house and took her away, while she was screaming in a demonic voice and struggling to remain with Eggs and Maryann, who is most likely Satan himself. Maryann told Eggs, "Let her go, she'll be back, so will they." Meaning Tara's mom and Lafayette.

Sookie, Eric, Bill and Jason are headed back home to Louisiana and are about to find home is not where the heart is. It's where Satan has taken up residence. Fans are excited about this storyline. Kim says, "Loved the first season of True Blood but missed a bit of season two. That wont happen again with all of this CRAZY stuff going on! I'm back on board the Bloodmobile! Eric is one determined vampire [sic]."

Jason and Sookie are prepared to deal with Maryann next week who has taken up residence in their family home. Kurt B. Stennett said, "Time to kick some Maryann ass next week." Sounds like he's been chatting with Jason Stackhouse.

Fans concurred about the loss of the great character Godric. Cindy Williams Payne said, "I cried like a baby when Godric died. Eric does have love in him." And Lauren Chu said, "The ending was a tragedy. I almost cried my eyes out! Godric shouldn't of [sic] died. Sookie's dream with Eric was intense and romantic now that he's a part of her."

"I'm thrilled that the show has decided to revisit the brother/sister relationship between Jason and Sookie. I think it's been far too long since they have touched base and realized that importance they share as siblings. Tonight's episode was, by far, the best of the season, at least in my humble opinion. The complications are really deepening, and I know I'm going to have a long, tortuous wait for the third season," said Rene Thurston.

"True Blood" is winding down to the last three episodes of the season. Maryann as Satan has come front and center. Her lust for the soul of Sam has caused her to lose any element of discretion she may have once had. Fans want to see her demise and the safety of their favorite characters back in their own hands. "True Blood" fans are looking for an angel to save their town of Bon Temps. Jason's got my vote. After his talk with Sookie on Sunday night, fans see a greater Jason emerging in the final episodes. One that is brave and determined. "True Blood" angels and demons are about to have an epic battle.
