Stephen Moyer Audio Interview with Phoenix FM

As we reported early True Blood's Stephen Moyer (who portrays vampire Bill Compton) is back home in his native Essex in the UK and he took the time to do an interview with local radio station, Phoenix FM last night (Wednesday, December 30, 2009) during intermission at the performance of The Twits at the Brentwood Theatre where he is the theatre's First Patron. During the audio interview Stephen discusses the phenomenal success of True Blood and how much his life has changed due to its success.  He describes how he tries to fly back home to the UK as often as he can and when the show is on hiatus  he tries to fit in and juggle various projects he is involved with during that short time span.  During this past hiatus he mentions how he managed to filmed four projects, "Priest", "Ice", "The Caller" and "Open House" which also stars his co-star and fiance, Anna Paquin and was directed by Anna's brother Andrew Paquin. He was asked he felt about all the True Blood fans donating money to help with the renovations of the Brewntwood Theatre and he stunned by response of it all. The interview was conducted in the section that was funded by the North America fans and has a wall with the bricks that holds the names of all the sponsors (both TrueBloodNet.com and our own individual bricks are on that wall). He mentioned some of the True Blood fan sites and stated how amazed he is at all the fund-raising that has occur on his behalf including the money that was raised for coaches (buses) to transport children to the Brentwood Theatre in order to see The TWITS which was organized by us "Tell Stephen "Happy Birthday" by Contributing to 'Steve's Coach Campaign!'" and was widely supported by other True Blood fan sites and fans. The campaign was a huge success and raised £1,500 (about $2,400), which paid for three schools to have coaches to take groups of students on the field trip to Brentwood Theatre to see the production of The TWITS. As Stephen mentioned in the interview he will be returning to Los Angeles on Sunday, January 3, 20102 and will resuming filming season 3 the next day on Monday, January 4, 2010. Stephen Moyer Interview With Local Essex Newspaper

Currently True Blood's Stephen Moyer (who portrays vampire Bill Compton) is back home in his native Essex in the UK and took the time to do a short interview with the local news media, thisistotalessex.co.uk, last night (Wednesday, December 30, 2009) during intermission at the performance of The Twits at the Brentwood Theatre. As the news article states Stephen began his acting career performing with the Brentwood Operatic Society's Youth Theatre Group and performed numerous times at the Brentwood Theatre where he is the theatre's First Patron. Stephen is back home in the UK for the holidays and is scheduled to fly back to the US next week to resuming filming season 3 of the HBO hit True Blood. As Stephen states he was reluctant to speak with the press before True Blood but now he is thrilled to talk about the show and "wants to spread the word."

"I'm really proud of the show so I'm really happy to talk about it.  It's nice to be happy to talk about it. In terms of a job coming together and being everything I wanted, this ticks all the boxes."

True Blood is One of the Top Ten Shows of 2009

True Blood has been put high on the list of yet another 'Top 10 Shows of 2009' list. This time, it is number 3 on the list of Hal Boedeker of the Orlando Sentinel. Here's what Hal had to say about True Blood:

"True Blood" is television's best vampire series. Its stellar second season featured fierce contributions from Alexander Skarsgard as the sexy, underhanded vampire Eric; Michelle Forbes as the mischief-making, orgy-throwing Maryann; and Ryan Kwanten as the surprisingly heroic Jason. Of course, Anna Paquin remains the show's vital center as lovable, mind-reading heroine Sookie Stackhouse.

Of course, this synopsis of the reasons that True Blood Season 2 was so great missed a few other reasons, like the short-lived Godric storyline (which Allan Hyde was so amazing in), the tender, loving relationship between Sookie Stackhouse and her vampire love Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer)  and the set-ups of future storylines that are sure to come up in Season 3. True Blood Season 3 Casting News Update: Crystal Norris

Although we are all well aware that Lindsay Pulsipher has been cast to play the role of Crystal Norris the main news is her status on the show.  According to MTV.com

"... she's been cast as a series regular, effectively confirming that Crystal will be a major player in season three.  This is either good or bad news, depending on how you look at it. On the one hand, Jason might actually fall in love with a woman who won't die on him (right away, at least) or turn her entire anti-vampire cult against him. (Again, not right away, that is!)."

Since she is to be a new love interest for Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) with whom she shares an "electric connection" it will be interesting to see how Alan Ball is going to expand her role from what we have all read in casting calls to make her a regular for season 3. Carrie Preston and Micheal Emerson's Performance in "A Woman Killed With Kindness"

True Blood's Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler) and her husband Michael Emerson from ABC's 'Lost' starred in the Thomas Haywood production of "A Woman Killed with Kindness" at The Theatre at St. Clement's on December 28, 2009. This domestic tragedy chronicles the fall of a pure wife, the fate of a young virgin, and dissects the nature of revenge. Delia Sherman, a renown Science Fiction and Fantasy writer, had the wonderful opportunity to see the play and presented on her blog her perception of the performance.  We are deeply grateful to Ms. Sherman for giving us permission to reprint her account of the evening in its entirety here. Red Bull Theatre is one of my favorite off-Broadway theatre companies.  They not only mount productions of such unfashionable wonders as Edward II, Women Beware Women, and The Revenger's Tragedy (which last I did not see, and therefore do rue the day), but also put up semi-staged readings of a round dozen of even more unfashionable wonders every year.  I cannot for the life of me remember which ones we've seen, only that we saw them, and were glad--despite the sentimentality and Neanderthal sexual politics that are always part of Elizabethan Renaissance Drama.  Tonight it was Thomas Heywood's A Woman Killed With Kindness (1603). I could say quite a bit about the strange morality of the text--which presumed its audience would agree that a woman who starved herself to death in penitence for her adultery had absolutely done the right thing and that a man who owed a great sum of money to his worst enemy was demonstrating nobility in forcing his younger sister to prostitute herself to him.  I could talk about the poetry (admirably clear, although a bit jog-trot and not even slightly sublime), or the theme -- which seems to be that if fate has decreed that you're going to sin, you sin pretty much whether you want to or not, and then you have to suffer and suffer and suffer and suffer the rest of your life, after which (if you really have suffered and repented and cried so much you have permanent tear tracks in your cheeks) you may be allowed to die forgiven and have your friends cry at your funeral.  Unless you're a guy, of course, in which case all you have to do is repent of having made your enemy's life a living hell, pay his debts, and marry his sister instead of just sleeping with her.  But what I really want to talk about is the acting. You may guess from my description that the characters in this play are a tough sell to a modern audience.  The men are all either prigs or pigs, and sometimes both.  The women are either pious, modest, and weepy (the wife and sister) or earthy and faithful (the servant wenches).  And yet, for the duration of the reading, there wasn't a character up there I really hated.  It's true that Geraint Wyn Davies, who played an old servant who spilled the beans to his master about his wife's shenanigans, was guilty of playing the part for more laughs than Heywood intended, but really, once Carrie Preston, as Lady Frankford, and Michael Emerson, as her cuckolded lord, got the bit between their teeth, it hardly mattered.They were wonderful.  She delivered all those smarmy lines about her shame showing upon her cheek and her tears of repentance washing the spots of sin from her soul without the slightest bit of self-consciousness.  She went down on her knees and she wept real tears and smeared her mascara and imbued those utterly outdated and rather overwrought lines with a wealth of genuine emotion.  And he made Frankford less a jealous husband whose honor has been outraged than a bewildered man whose heart has been broken.  When they were speaking, it was like there was nobody else on the stage.  Now, that's acting. Then I come home and look up Carrie Preston because I know I've seen her recently, but I can't  remember where.  And it turns out she was Arlene in True Blood, and I'd seen her in the finale of Season One, like, two days ago, where she was weeping over Sookie and Rene and her own bad taste in men, genuinely weeping, just like tonight, except it was completely different because Arlene isn't Lady Frankford and wouldn't understand her in a million years, and her face even looked different while she was doing it, so it my not being able to place her wasn't just because her hair was a different color and she was dressed for a New York winter instead of a Louisiana summer.  It also turns out she's married to Michael Emerson, who is in the TV series Lost, which two facts I am probably the only aware human being in New York over the age of consent not to know.  I've never seen Lost.  But now I may have to.  Because, you know, these people can act. Get BITTEN with the True Blood Love!

True Blood is taking over the world! Fans seem to unite worldwide at all sorts of events, including various conventions, fan websites, etc, just to talk about how much they love the show and to praise the cast and crew involved in the production of True Blood. True Blood's Joe Manganiello Talks about Alcide - Part 2

Yesterday we presented part 1 of Joe Manganiello's interview with Micheal Auseillo from EW.com and today we continue his interview with his discussions surrounding Alan Ball's approach to Alcide and if it will differ from Charlaine Harris' Alcide? His time commitment to True Blood? And perhaps one of the biggest question that many True Blood fans are wondering is should they be worried about Alcide getting in between Sookie and the two vampires vying for her attention. When asked if his portrayal of Alcide Herveaux on True Blood will be different from Charlaine Harris' version, Joe states that both him and Alan Ball had a discussion about it and as of now "it's up in the air." However at this point in time he is confident that the book fans will be happy with how his character is going to be portrayed. As to how Joe sees Alcide, he refers to him as a big, tender, romantic giant with heroic tendencies:

"He's really big. He's giant. When Sookie first meets him, she opens the door and looks up, and then has to look up some more. So there's this giant presence standing in the doorway with dark hair and dark features. He's strong and protective. He comes from a construction background; his father is in the construction business. He's heroic and romantic. I don't think it's a secret that he has a broken heart when he shows up. He had a really rough go of this relationship with Debbie Pelt, so there's a lot of friction there. Debbie's doing a lot of things to get back at Alcide."

As for how long he will be joining the cast, all he could say is that he is committed to the show for this upcoming season. When asked about what he can offer Sookie in a relationship that vampires Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) can't, Joe states that although his character is not completely human (being a werewolf) he is warm flesh and blood and has a lifespan.  Taking notes from the book he knows that when Alcide hugs Sookie she can feel his skin the amount of heat that radiates from it which is completely different from the touch of the vampires.  As he states "it's [similar to when] she met Bill and what a relief it was for her to not to be able to hear his thoughts." Something new to her that she has never experienced before. In regards to being the thrown in the middle of the frenzy for Sookie's attention, that already has a huge, devoted fan following for both Bill and Eric to win her heart, Joe see it as a lot of fun.  He states that if he was a small, petite actress it may be scary being thrown into that type of situation but he is a big guy and "people don't necessarily scare me that way." Though he does admit he has had his share of stalkers that he had to go to the police to take care of the matter. As Joe explains:

"They were really big… I don't know how I want to describe it but they were guys. I've had two guy stalkers that I've had to go to the cops about. But other than that I think it's a blast. It's so fun to get caught up in that. It's so fun to have fans care that much. It's that whole Comic-Con, fanboy crowd. I love that. I started my career in Spider-Man, so I'm completely familiar with them and I love that kind of stuff. And you hear about love triangles all of the time, it's going to be interesting to see how the love square works out."

What’s Cookin! – Lafayette's Famous Fudge

Lafayette comin' atcha here.  Youse know that I am an Entrepreneur!  I work on da road crew to keep myself lookin' hot and SEXAY and line my pockets with a little jingle.  Then at nights I cook at Merlotte's bar where all the local necks hang out.  So now I'm branchin' out and I'm goin' to be Bon Temps version of da BAM! man.  I mean no one has more Bam! Bam! Bam! than 'lil ole me!  And I kin cook too! Every week or so I'm going to teach y'all to make food good enough to melt even Nan Flanagan's heart. Bon Chika Wow Wow – Appetit!

Lafayette's Famous Fudge

Happy Holidays, Hookahs.  Ya boy's back wit some holiday cheer for ya heffers.  I hope each and every one of youse had a great holiday.

I'm bout to impart some knowledge for ya that you can use for ya Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve feasts.  You just know round here we got that fire when it comes to da food.  Louisiana is da bomb!

Lettie Mae had a spread that would make you want to slap ya mama. Errbody who's anybody in Bon Temps was there.  Hell, Terry and Arlene was even there with the kids.  And Andy with his dumb self.  Get this.  Andy calls up Tara a couple days 'fo Thanksgiving, talking bout, "Tara, Imma come over to ya Mama house and fry up a turkey 'fo Thanksgiving."  Yeah, well, I am more than certain you hookahs know how that went down.  Thank goodness me and Terry was off work and already over there helping wit da festivities or else Lettie Mae's house woulda looked like da one those vampires was living in – crispy, crunchy and burned clean to da ground.

Andy outside, right?  He got the burner going and he put da pot and da oil in it.  He gets da brilliant idea to get it to boiling and you know ol' Andy – dat fool too proud to ask another man fo' help and lo and behold, he dropped da turkey into dat boiling hot oil all by himself – 'cept he knocked over the pot while he was doing dat.

Child, listen to ya boy when I tells ya that ya don't want to be nowhere round when dat oil hits da flames.  Lettie Mae's backyard looked like a forest fire.  And yeah, then dat's when Andy's crazy self decides to yell for help. He better be glad that wasn't his own house else I'd have let it burn, baby burn!  But youse know I can't do that to my favorite auntie so I ran outside to see what I could do to fix Andy's mess.  I saw what was happening and I said, "Lawd Andy, what you done now?!"  It was quite a sight to say da least.  For some stupid reason, Andy thought fanning the flame with his shirt was gonna help put it out.  Man, I grabbed the fire extinguisher and commenced to savin' da day.  If ain't learned nothin' else workin' on dat road crew, I learned how to put out a fire or two.  Jason was always doin' stupid stuff and I done put out a few a his fires in my day.

Once Andy finished burnin' down half da neighborhood, I went back in da house to make my famous fudge.  Imma share dis' witcha, but don't tell nobody, or else I might have to ice ya:

Ingredients:

½  cup light corn syrup

2 sticks butter

4 cups granulated sugar

1 can condensed milk

1 cup peanut butter

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Spray a cake pan with vegetable spray and set is on da side til you finish making da mix.  In a large saucepan, mix up sugar, condensed milk, corn syrup, and butter.  Ya want to cook it on medium high heat.  Now you can't be playin' on da internet or "workin" while none of dis is going on, else you gonna burn the mixture.  Stir it like coffee – put yo hips in it.  Keep stirrin it til it's completely melted and take yo candy thermometer and stir til it gets to 240 degrees.  Don't let it get above dat else you'll ruin da mix.  Once it get there, take it off da heat and stir in da peanut butter and vanilla.  Stir dat mixture good til it gets smooth and pour it in da pan and let sit til ya'll ready to eat. Den cut into bars or squares.

True Blood's Joe Manganiello Talks about Alcide

Trust Michael Ausiello from EW.com to have the latest scoop on all our favorite show! Today, Michael posted his interview with Joe Manganiello, True Blood's newest hunk for Season 3, werewolf Alcide Herveaux on Alan Ball's hit HBO TV vampire drama.  From the responses that Joe provided it seems he is the perfect Alcide! The first question Michael asked Joe was regarding how he found out that he got the role of  Alcide.

I had three meetings with Alan Ball. [After the last one], I got a call from my agent and manager. And whenever you get a call from your agent and manager, you have a pretty good idea that something good is about to happen.

Joe's reaction to learning that he was Alcide was quite emotional as he was not shy to reveal in his answers that he actually cried upon learning that he got the role.

I'm not afraid to admit that I started crying. I was just so excited. It's a dream come true. When I was a little kid, the nun at my elementary school said if you pray for something hard enough, it'll happen. And I would pray every day with all of my heart that God would turn me into a werewolf. And when it didn't happen, I kind of thought, "You know what? Maybe this stuff doesn't work. Maybe I'm getting gypped." So here it is 25 years later and my prayers got answered and I'm going to be a werewolf.

As to Joe's appeal to being a werewolf, it seems it stem from his childhood as he always had an inkling towards monsters according to his response.

I just loved Halloween. When I was 4, my mother dressed me up as a vampire and brought me to a haunted house. When I think about it now, bringing a 4-year-old kid to a haunted house is pretty intense. There was a vampire in the haunted house that jumped out of a coffin and I went up and tried to climb into the coffin with him. He wound up picking me up and putting me in the coffin with him and closing the lid. I [just] always liked monsters. There was something interesting about having this thing inside of you that you can't control that comes out when you get angry. There's something cathartic about the idea of having a beast inside you.

The response about the "beast within that you can't control" is quite interesting since after all, isn't that kind of what The Hulk is, along with so many other beloved characters from the last several decades? The description allows us to really feel for the character, which makes them become an integral part of our lives. Joe mentioned that he is a big fan of the show and has seen every episode of the show and when asked if he had the opportunity to meet Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) to which he stated "not yet". The next question that all True Blood fans are probably interested in is when will he start filming? His stated:

Late January, so I've got some time. Every day right now is all about the Werewolf Workout. It consists of Krav Maga, which is an Israeli fighting technique, and Cross Fit, which is kind of a gnarly crazy high-intensity workout. And I'm doing a little bit of weights in between.

Krav Maga is "a practical and tactical system which teaches how to prevent, deal and overcome all kinds of violence and attacks." This type of martial arts is also used in by many military and government groups including the FBI and Israel's Mossad. (If you want to learn more about it, just check out the link here.) The final question, was in response to Joe's previous answer, and asked whether or not Alan Ball had asked him to do such intense workouts.

No. This is something I wanted to do on my own. I'm a big guy to begin with; I work out a lot anyway. In my mind, I see the character as having a big chest, big arms — ripped the way an animal would be. Vampires have a supernatural strength to them, so you can have a vampire that is a little slighter. But a werewolf is this big, powerful, half man, half animal. I want to get as close to that as I possibly can.

Sounds like Joe is mentally prepped to become Alcide, and is working on the physical preparation as well! True Blood fans will be anxiously waiting to see how Alcide will shape up in the coming season of True Blood! True Blood Has Hot Vampires

Fancast.com is featuring their "Hot For Vampires" list and of course our favorite vampires from Alan Ball's hit HBO TV series True Blood are included.  Fancast is presenting the hot vampires in a slideshow with the smoldering, handsome Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) known as the gentleman vampire.  As Fancast states "Vampire Bill has won the heart of telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse, the sweetheart of Bon Temps (Anna Paquin)...for now."  The other hot vampire that may be trying to start something with Sookie is the hot 1,000 year old viking vampire Eric Northman. As Fancast states, "Vampire Bill, he has some competition for Sookie's affections from Vampire Eric." Which is going to be very interesting to see how it all play out in season 3. True Blood Season 1 Marathon on HBO

True Blood Keeps Topping Lists For 2009

Alan Ball's hit HBO TV vampire series True Blood continues to receive recognition and praise from various news outlets as 2009 draws to a close.  Here we would like to present what some news organizations are saying about this amazing show that has captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world. The UK publication, The Independent states that True Blood is one of the Best TV show for 2009 and lists it as the best American Import of the Year:

"For sheer entertainment, nothing beat Alan Ball's True Blood (Channel 4) which rescued the vampire genre from the Twilighters and launched it into a campy, Deep-South soap opera. And forgive me a shallow moment if I feel compelled to mention that it featured Vinnie from Home and Away in a near-permanent state of undress."

Cleveland.com lists it in its TV Top 10 for 2009 which we all can agree is well deserved.  They provide the following reason why True Blood is worthy of being on the top TV show's list and the reason behind its success:

Leaders In The Arts, "True Blood" Cast

This week's choice for Leaders In The Arts is the television series "True Blood," which has transformed the landscape for all TV shows today and in the future. Some series like the many awful reality shows have damaged the television industry. With soaps sliding into cancellation, so many crime and drama series making their debut every season, when Alan Ball signed on with HBO to create the series from the famous books everyone debated whether or not the series would be successful.

Two seasons later HBO and Alan Ball have created a cult classic. Actors like Anna Paquin, Alexander Skarsgard and Stephen Moyer have become huge stars because of their work on the vampire series. Other vampire shows are now popular and even though "Twilight" has much different vampire-types, "True Blood" stands alone in its creativity, individuality and great storylines. From evil maenads to vampires and shape-shifters, Alan Ball and his spectacular writing team simply doesn't seem bored and their fans are certainly not.

Fans are rabid for the season three to began and although they have seven months to go before they see their favorite characters in Bon Temps again, but time doesn't interfere with the viewers of the series great anticipation and love for their favorite characters and actors. Natalie Calder who is a lover of the books commented on Bill's demise in the books and how she hopes Alan Ball does not follow the books too much to the letter. She says, "I really hope the TV series doesn't closely follow the books. I will miss Bill if it does!" While Shirley Gaughan has just purchased season one DVD set, says, "Enjoyed the DVD's immensely, so hot." Fans don't need to worry about Alan Ball following the book, as he's very creative and he enjoys the character of Bill just as much as the viewers do. Maria Dudley-Arrendondo says, "Summer 2010 seems so far away!" While viewer Barbara Jean Lay comments, "my favorite scene last season was when Godric grabbed Lorena by the throat. I so wanted him to break her neck." This is the reaction many fans have to Ball's villains and season three will have a number of them. Fans excitement can hardly be contained. What TV producer wouldn't want the acclaim and fans that this series has captured? None, that's who. Alan Ball with HBO has triumphed over declining ratings and lackluster fan interest that most shows battle with every day. Shows like this give the viewers what they want and that's what makes "True Blood" such a cult classic and fans want to see more of it. Despite shows trying to copy and create the same buzz this adult-vampire genre has embraced, there is no other series on-air today as unique as this drama. Alexander Skarsgard Interview with SciFiNow Magazine

Being in the mist of the holiday season one would think that there would be little news on the True Blood front.  Well it seems that True Blood and the various cast members are so popular that even during the holiday season the news about them doesn't take a break which is good news for True Blood fans.  This time thanks to the people at AlexSkarsgard.net they were able to provide the latest interview that Alexander Skarsgard did with the UK publication SciFiNow Magazine. Even though Alexander has probably been asked the same questions over and over again he never to seem to lose his enthusiasm to discuss his good fortune landing the role of Eric Northman on True Blood and working with Alan Ball.  As he has stated many times, and in this interview as well, that once he heard from his agent that Alan Ball was producing a vampire series he definitely wanted to be a part of it. He states that he was a big fan of Alan's work and once Alan told him about the part of playing a 1,000-year-old Viking vampire, and I was like "Hell yeah, I'll do that." As Alex mentions the transition from shooting Generation Kill in Africa for seven months to True Blood was great because for him as an actor, he likes a challenge and doesn't want to be typecast playing the same type of role over and over again. For someone who hasn't seen the show Alex describes it as:

"It's really a wild ride.  True Blood is funny, and sexy, and it definitely has that Southern flavour.  But at the same time it's very smart - it's obviously fictional but you can definitely draw parallels to our society that we live in, and issues that we deal with."

As Alex explains in the show vampires are trying to obtain civil rights which is used as a metaphor for whichever minority group one wants to imply that is trying to fit in and be treated as an equal in society. When Alex is asked if he took any inspiration from the book version of Eric in Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels Alex states that:

"I don't know about Eric, because he doesn't play a big part during the first season.  But I got the books and read the first five when we started shooting just to get a bit of knowledge and to understand the character a little.  And it obviously helped me a lot to understand Charlaine Harris's world that she created."

In response to the question of the Sookie and Eric relationship developing, Alex mentions that he is aware that it does develop later on in the book series and plays a big part in the books but at the moment the tension is certainly there and Eric is intrigued by Sookie, which is definitely bound to grow. With the enormous success of the show Alexander is still taken aback by it because as he states:

"Yeah, I've never experienced this before.  I really enjoyed it when we worked on it and I thought it was great, but you never anticipate that.  It's so wild and it's crazy how big it's gotten - something happened between season one and two and it just seemed to explode when season two started.  I was in Sweden for a month and I got back as the first episodes of season two were airing in the States, and it was crazy how different it was."

Of course when Alex was asked what we can expect for season 3 for Eric to which he responded he doesn't know and that "we start next month we haven't gotten the scripts yet - bloggers know more than I do" [Editor's note:  apparently this interview took place a while back and was just recently published in the magazine]. As to where True Blood will be shooting season 3 Alex states they will be shooting in Hollywood, and in and around Los Angeles.  He further elaborated that there will be more flashback scenes which he is very excited about and looking forward to filming. Stephen Moyer One Of The Sexiest Vampires in Hollywood History

The huge website iVillage.com put out their "15 Sexiest Vampires in Hollywood History" and states that these vampires, "they want to suck your blood -- and you wouldn't really mind," which we have to agree when it comes to our True Blood vampires. The charismatic Stephen Moyer who plays the handsome 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton is recognized for being one of the "Sexiest Vampires in Hollywood History" which which we agree with their choice.  The site states in their post:

"Sorry, True Blood fans—life is imitating art! In August 2009, smoldering Stephen Moyer got engaged to co-star Anna Paquin, which is bloody hell bad news for his female fans."

Well as long as we get to enjoy Stephen's smoldering good looks and scenes as Bill Compton on True Blood we are happy and we are all glad that Stephen and Anna found love and happiness with each other. True Blood Top TV Show For 2009 on TV.com's List

The accolades for True Blood keep coming in and as long as True Blood keeps receiving them we will keep on presenting them.  This time TV.com presents their Top 10 TV Shows of 2009 and True Blood is at the number 6 position (of course all True Blood fans would place it at the number 1 spot) and we are all very excited and pleased for the recognition that it is receiving from all the media sites. TV.com states the following about True Blood in its Top TV shows list:

"Yes, yes, we were a little late to the party. But thanks to HBO on Demand, we're ready to sing the praises of Bon Temps, the little town where not only can anything happen, but when it does, it's often in the nude. (Thank you, Cable!) "Take Me Home" Singer Lisbeth Scott Discusses Her Recent Work

Lisbeth Scott, who lent her beautiful voice to "Take Me Home" from the True Blood soundtrack, also sang some of the music for James Cameron's new blockbuster, Avatar. In an interview with the Atlanta Examiner, Lisbeth talks about working with some of the biggest composers in film and television, and why music is so important in her life. She has collaborated in the past with award-winning composers like Hans Zimmer and John Williams. On Avatar, she was thrilled to work with James Horner for the first time. She has had great experiences with these composers:

"I loved working with them, because I feel I have a connection with them. I understand how they work, and I think they understand how I think and how I like to be creative."

Lisbeth says that many times, she feels something in the music that indicates how she should approach the vocals. She also describes the special working relationship she has with True Blood composer Nathan Barr:

"Nathan and I have worked together a lot, and we really work together quite effortlessly, and most of the time we know what the other wants to do instinctively. We started working together, actually, on a small film a while back called The Virginian. After that, we worked on a couple of my releases and a bunch of his films. And when True Blood came along, there were several instances where a song was needed, and that was that. We work so well together, and it's such a joy. It's very organic and effortless."

Among the projects that she has for the upcoming year, she will be doing something new with Nathan, but she did not get into specifics about it in the interview and is scheduled to perform The Passion of the Christ soundtrack in Saint Peter's Square in Vatican City in June.. She also mentioned that she was working on some stuff of her own, which can be found at www.lisbethscott.com. Lisbeth offers her thoughts on music and why she does what she does:

"My feeling is, I came into the world with a voice, and I want to use it. I want to reach as many people as is physically possible because it fulfills me in my heart and I see how happy it makes people, and there's nothing better than that! For me to work with such a beautiful piece of music in one of the most gorgeous places on Earth, I can't really ask for more."

True Blood on CNN's Best TV For 2009 List

True Blood is not only getting recognition from the entertainment industry for being one of the best television shows for 2009, but large media organizations such as CNN are giving Alan Ball's hit HBO TV vampire series top marks. CNN examines True Blood and right off the bat states that "this show doesn't suck." The large media outlet recognizes what makes this show a huge hit with fans with its infusion of:

"stories and characters that have bite to them, as well as lots of sex and violence served up among the residents of the steamy Louisiana town of Bon Temps."

It found the "good versus evil" battle intriguing where one had a hard time telling who was the good guy and who was the evil one.  Was it the blood thirsty vampires or the religious fanatics from the Fellowship of the Sun bent on destroying the creatures of the night? Another key component that CNN felt made the show such a smashing hit were the developing relationships between several characters particularly between Sookie Stackhouse and vampire Bill Compton.  As CNN states:

"Sookie (Anna Paquin) continued to heat things up with Bill (Stephen Moyer), a relationship made even more thrilling for "True Blood" worshippers given that the actors are engaged in real life. But they weren't the only passionate pair -- Jason (Ryan Kwanten), Sookie's less-than-bright brother, managed to hook up with Sarah (Anna Camp), wife of the leader of the Fellowship of the Sun church, for some graphic action that became water-cooler fodder.  The healthy serving of gore, mystery and soap-opera-like shenanigans led New York Magazine to dub the show "cable catnip." Meow!"

"True Blood" Season Three Secrets Revealed

"True Blood" may be on hiatus and fans may be waiting so impatiently for their favorite shape shifter, vampires and fairy to return, but in the meantime genius Alan Ball is not waiting around. He's filming his great series and he's making casting decisions that will make for the best season so far for Bon Temp fans.

In response to a feature I recently wrote for Canyon News titled "True Blood, Stars or Icons?" I received many responses from some of the most loyal Trubies on the planet. Lizzie from Australia says, "I am glad you wrote about Ryan [Kwanten]. Actors like Ryan and Sam Trammell are practically ignored by the media and on posts. He is such a great actor, it is unbelievable the way he plays Jason! He plays a redneck to perfection. He has been written about in local media quite a bit of late, which is good not only for Ryan, but for True Blood. The Sydney Morning Herald did a listing of all the Aussie actors playing American roles and gave them a rating out of 10 for their accent and our boy Ryan got 9/10!"

While fan of the show Nia said, "It is so good to see Ryan [Kwanten] and Alex [Skarsgard] are enjoying the fame and good fortune that comes with the affiliation of such a wonderful show and the casting genius of Alan Ball. Both fit perfectly into their respective roles of Jason and Eric. No other could wear their titles. They have taken their character and have flown with it to heights that have kept us laughing, intrigued, even somber, and just generally enjoying their on screen time." While poster Pbartteacher, who is a huge Alexander Skarsgard and Eric Northman fan stated, "Straw Dogs is currently in post-production and is slated to be released in February of 2010. Of course this is the film that Alexander just finished with Kate Bosworth, James Woods, Billy Lush and James Marsden. Entirely filmed in Shreveport, Louisiana and is loosely based on the Sam Peckinpah production by the same name." True Jaxx commented on some of the viewers impatience last season when they were ready for the character of Maryann to bite the dust. Jaxx understands the uniqueness of a great performance and it sometimes makes us hate the character, but that's the point. "Tommy I trust your judgment and will take your advice. I will trust Alan Ball to deliver the storyline. I completely understand that some things just do not translate well from book to screen and need to be adjusted or expanded on to tell the best story possible. I also realize that there is much more planned behind the scenes than us fans are privy to and the very few things I didn't understand or did not love in season two are just a prelude to a bigger picture for future seasons," stated Jaxx. Fan Antonio from New Jersey summed up a lot of what many viewers feel about the series. "With 'True Blood' even if people have read the books, Alan Ball keeps us guessing. We get more suspense, more twists and surprises. We hold our collective breath and say to ourselves, What's he gonna do Now? I like that!! [Sic]" What's he going to do now? Latest casting news is The Hollywood Reporter is stating that Emmy award winning actress, Alfre Woodard has been cast to play the role of Lafayette's mother, Ruby Jean Reynolds. According to insiders at the hit show, she is to play an intensely religious and viciously homophobic woman who is clearly deranged and being cared for in an elite private facility. Looks like Lafayette will have his hands full this season. His cousin Tara's not the only one with a crazy mother. Lafayette's not the only guy who has to worry about maternal trouble next season. Sam Merlotte's mom is also coming to Bon Temps. EW.com is reporting that for the third season of "True Blood" Tony-nominated actress J. Smith-Cameron will play the role of the shape shifter's estranged mother, Melinda Mickens. Melinda is described as a dirt-poor, hung over and trashy looking woman. Also, word is the distinguished British actor James Frain who performed incredibly as Sir Thomas Cromwell during last season's episodes of "The Tudors" until his character was beheaded by King Henry, VIII, who in history was also beheaded and his head placed on the London Bridge facing away from England, has been cast in a pivotal role as the over protective and controlling vampire boyfriend of Tara's, played by Rutina Wesley. The casting call for this role went out as the following, "Franklin Mott as a tall, dark, and handsome vampire who seems to have an immediate and torrid connection to Tara, but he may not be as warm and loving as he first appears." Sounds like the last character he played. Sounds incredibly fun for Tara fans as well. "TB's" werewolf, Alcide Herveaux will be played by handsome actor Joe Manganiello, best known for playing barkeep Owen on "One Tree Hill" and starred as a law school friend Brad on "How I Met Your Mother." "Dexter" star Cooper Huckabee will portray Sam's mother's husband Joe Lee Mickens in "TB's" next season. Finally "Desperate Housewives" star Gregg Daniel will portray Reverend Daniels, who will offer spiritual comfort to Tara, who has a rough year coming up. On Writers Guild awards news, and yes, it's that time of year again. "True Blood" has been nominated in the Episodic Drama – any length – one airing time category for Episode 2.09 "I Will Rise Up" written by Nancy Oliver for HBO. This episode is remembered for several key points: the explosion at Godric's home, Sookie being tricked into drinking Eric's blood and subsequently being connected to him and the beginnings of her attraction to him. Fans raved on the "True Blood" websites about the love scenes between attractive Anna Paquin and the Swedish god Alex Skarsgard. They are also hoping for more of those in the coming season. Also on Tuesday, the Golden Globe nominations were announced. Two nominations for "True Blood," including Best Television Series – Drama and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama [Anna Paquin]. The 67^th annual Golden Globes are handed out at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 17. Announced on Thursday, "True Blood" has been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. The 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. CT, and 6 p.m. MT from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. True Blood Best TV Series For 2009

Alan Ball's hit HBO TV vampire series True Blood received the #1 spot for the "Best TV Series for 2009" according to Ken Tucker from EW.com.  All True Blood fans know that the show is the best show on television right now and perhaps the best show that has come out in years, but it is absolutely wonderful to hear all the recognition and accolades that True Blood is receiving from the entertainment industry. As Mr. Tucker explains that he was thrilled to see True Blood, a show he greatly admires, reach such a high level of popularity among fans and in popular culture. As he states:

"Creator Alan Ball took a great commercial risk in using Charlaine Harris' source materials — themselves big-audience best-sellers — and bending them to his own creative purposes. By doing things such as making Stephen Moyer's Bill and Alexander Skarsgård's Eric equal attractions for the affection of Anna Paquin's Sookie, and keeping viewer fave Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) around for further torture and campy repartee, Ball could have alienated the Stackhouse-books diehards."

Alan has been able to do the impossible.  To create a show that has both book readers and non- book readers wondering what in is going to happen next and craving more after each episode. Season two continued to fuel the fire by providing intense storylines dealing not only with the lead, Sookie Stackhouse, but including every character in show.  From Sookie's shape-shifting boss, Sam (Sam Trammell), dealing with a demon from his past to vampires Bill and Eric being involved in a vast, complex and hierarchical society that adds to the tension between them. Ryan Kwanten's Jason Stackhouse helped expose the hypocrisy of the Fellowship of the Sun and it devious plans while budding relationships full of trails and tribulations were examined such as the ones between Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Hoyt (Jim Parrack) or Tara (Rutina Welsley) and Eggs (Mehcad Brooks).  We cannot forget the surprising twist Alan provided for all by making Nelsan Ellis' character Lafayette live and develop a storyline of his own which we all know will perhaps develop further in season 3. All in all, Alan Ball, his creative team of writers and the amazingly talented cast of True Blood will continue to grow and amass more fans to the show and become, what True Blood fans know will be a classic, and an unprecedented rival to others in the industry. True Blood's Ryan Kwanten Gets High Praise From Alan Ball

Ryan Kwanten's brilliant performance as the lovable Jason Stackhouse has not only caught the eyes of millions of fans but also that of True Blood's creator, Alan Ball who only has high praise for him. Alan states that all the actors had to leave all their inhibitions behind whether it was removing their clothes for sex scenes to being seen by millions in not the very best way.  For Ryan he had to deal with both, exposing himself both physically for the sex scenes and mentality by playing the bumbling town fool to millions watching the show. As Alan states:

"One of the things I really appreciated about Ryan is his willingness to look foolish, Jason is not the sharpest knife in the drawer and a lot of actors might need to wink at the camera to let the audience know that 'I'm not really this stupid'."

This is one things that Alan admires about Ryan.  Ryan is an incredibly talented actor whose performance as the slow-witted Jason is so flawless and believable yet Ryan, who is nothing like his character, doesn't allow it to bother him if people make the wrong assumptions about him.

"Ryan is smart and talented and skilled and he makes it (Jason) look effortless, but he's really nothing like Jason in real life."

Alan acknowledges there is a fair amount of sex and nudity in the show and as he states:

"All the sex is in the books," he says. "When you think about vampires they kind of are sex. Part of the whole appeal of the vampire is the eroticism of it - of being bitten and the penetration of flesh by the fang."

However, True Blood is more then sex and horror but also examines deeper social and personal issues such as loneliness, intimacy and the outcasting of others who may be different in some manner.  Without preaching and making the storylines "in-your-face" commentaries about issues in today's society, Alan is a master in telling stories in subtle ways that does not cause people to get their guard up. As he says:

"... it's all done in this light-hearted amusement-park kind of way so it never feels heavy-handed. The books [Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels for which the series is based on] walk this fine line between horror and adventure and romance and social satire. I got addicted somewhere around the third or fourth book. I thought, 'this stuff holds up and it will be a really fun TV show'."

Alan was right it is a really fun TV show and completely addictive as millions of True Blood fans wait anxiously for the return of season 3 to see what stories Alan and his creative team of writers have in store to tell regarding our favorite characters. True Blood Season 3 Spoiler News: Lafayette's Love

Here is a little True Blood holiday treat. Micheal Ausiello from EW.com is giving us a little teasing spoiler for season 3 of True Blood by providing us some details about what we may see happening with our lovable short-order cook Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) in the area of his love life. Michael states that Lafayette will be getting a boyfriend and Alan Ball is quietly searching for a sexy Latino actor in his 30s to play a lust interest for everyone's favorite Bon Temps citizen. In previous casting calls this character is not specified as having an encounter with Lafayette, however his description makes him seem like a good candidate! Jesus Velasquez is an attractive Latino male nurse in his 20s-30s. Taking care of people in a nursing home, this young man is good-natured even in the face of occasional racist remarks from his elderly patients. If he is in fact the one that will have a relationship with Lafayette, wouldn't that be a great contrast to our flamboyant, outspoken fry cook? True Blood Leaving Its Mark on 2009

If these numerous "best of" list rankings are proving anything, it is what a lasting impression True Blood left on viewers this year. Critics praise the show for being fun and outrageous. Months after the Season two finale, everyone still remembers what a good time we all had as True Blood fans this summer. One popular TV blog, Televisionary, ranks True Blood as one of the best US dramas, along with other HBO series Big Love, AMC's Mad Men, and ABC's Lost.

In its second season, HBO's vampire drama True Blood went from being a guilty pleasure to a series that balanced the outright campy with the truly transcendent.

It credits the show for growing from the first season into a deeper universe with fascinating supporting characters like Alexander Skarsgard's Eric, Nelsan Ellis' Lafayette, Rutina Wesley's Tara, and Deborah Ann Woll's Jessica. The story arc with Eric's maker Godric, played by young Danish actor Allan Hyde, only lasted a few episodes, but it was emotionally compelling and memorable. Alan Ball has created a wonderful combination of the light-hearted and the heavy, so that the show can be fun and exciting, but also powerful.

There are few series that are as gleefully unpredictable than True Blood, a series that rewrites the rules about storytelling while spinning a bloody good yarn.

True Blood's Michelle Forbes On TV Guide's Top List

Is it any surprise that TV Guide has done a "Best of the Year for Performance" and once again someone's name from True Blood showed up? Michelle Forbes showed up in the second season as the strange and mysterious friend of Tara, and was tied into alot of the on goings in the second season. Michelle's character had so much depth, that it turned into another extended stay, as did Lafayette's character. Michelle, as many of you did or didn't know, played Maryann Forrester. She showed up just as Tara thought she was going to have a meltdown and was all too nice while planting her roots and evil influence among the unknowing residences of Bon Temps. It turned out that later, our suspicions of her being something not so kind were confirmed and that she was in fact a Maenad (servant of Dionysus, the Greek God of Wine) and so complex and diverse her role, that the Battlestar Galactica vet was named number 6 out of 26 choices for this year's list. True Blood On Most Desirable Male Characters of 2009 List

The men of True Blood are once again being recognized for being some of the sexiest and most desirable characters on television.  This time ExtraTV lists the "Most Desirable Male Characters of 2009" and of course True Blood is on the list with not just one, but two male characters that have set millions of women's hearts fluttering and have become part of their fantasies. ExtraTV includes True Blood's Bill Compton, played by Stephen Moyer on its "Most Desirable" list for being, "Louisiana's most hospitable vampire on "True Blood" — and Sookie isn't the only girl swooning over his Southern charm." The other "Most Desirable" from True Blood included in ExtraTV's list is Jason Stackhouse, played by Ryan Kwanten, who "charms the ladies with his boyish features and Southern accent.
