Sam Trammell's Surfrider Inspiration

Sam gets a Natural High from Surfing

Sam Trammell True Blood Sam Merlotte In an interview with Max Flower, Sam Trammell, who plays Sam Merlotte on HBO's True Blood, explains how when he started surfing six years ago, he was inspired to join the Surfrider organization:
"I'm in the oceans a lot and you see all the pollution, our fish our dying and there are dead spots in the ocean. Surfrider is great because it helps preserve the ecological integrity of the beaches and of the oceans, we need clean oceans and we're going to lose them"
He explains what he gets out of surfing itself:
"You know it's sort of an unnamable thing, there's just a real natural high you get from being on a wave and having it push you and it's just really fun, it's wonderful to be out in nature, water nature, with fish and dolphin and seagulls. You get a different perspective looking back on land from the ocean."
Sam notes that after becoming involved with Surfrider he has become more aware with the challenges of the ocean. SOURCE: www.youtube.com — Sam Trammell, True Blood, on The Surfrider Foundation
