True Blood Season 2 Spoiler: What's Going to Happen to Lafayette Next?

SPOILER ALERT!  DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPENED TO LAFAYETTE AS NELSAN ELLIS TELLS TV GUIDE!  I'M SERIOUS DO NOT READ IF YOU REALLY DO NOT WANT TO KNOW!! OK YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! lafayette-reynold-nelsan-ellis As we saw in the first episode of season 2 of Alan Ball's hit HBO TV series True Blood, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) is not dead and is in fact in a dungeon as Eric Northman's (Alexander Skarsgard) prisoner.  Did Nelsan know that he would survive into the second season?  Apparently Nelsan was as much in the dark as everyone else regarding the fate of the flamboyant short-order cook of Merlotte's. Nelsan had read Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels and knew the fate of his character therefore when it came time to do the reading for the finale episode for season 1 he was prepared for the end. "I thought, this was fun, time to look for the next gig," he says. It came as a complete surprise when he found out that it was not him in car. "'You know we're not going to kill you, right?'" Ellis remembers Ball telling him. "And I was like, 'Noooo...'" Ball told the actor that he decided to keep Lafayette in the cast after shooting a scene between Ellis and Rutina Wesley, who plays Lafayette's cousin, Tara, in the pilot episode. Ellis and Wesley have combustive chemistry for sure, which Ellis attributes to their long friendship. So what does Alan Ball have in store for Lafayette?  Well it seems that Lafayette will become inextricably connected with the vampires but it seems that it will not always be adversarial. "[Lafayette] stays with the vampires basically throughout the season," he says. "I guess how deep down the rabbit hole he goes with Eric is the biggest teaser I can give."Eric makes people beholden to him," says Ellis. "He did it to Sookie, and now he does force Lafayette to work for him to repay him for something he's done for him." So the big question:  is Lafayette going to be turned?  According to Lafayette not anytime soon. "I have a sneaking suspicion that, in the future, the vampires are going to learn to respect him and not mess with him," he says. "He's going to find a way to elevate his position with them. Lafayette is a survivor, so he's not going to stay in this scared state too long." SOURCE: TV Guide (Photo credit: HBO Inc.)
