Stephen Moyer Up Close and Personal

stephen-moyer-starStephen Moyer, the handsome 173 year old vampire Bill Compton, in Alan Ball's hightly successful HBO TV series True Blood spoke with Amber Ray from Metro.us and gave an up close and personal look at his new found fame.  Stephen mentions in his interview that True Blood is based on Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels in which the stories revolve around the adventures of a telepathic bar maid and the emergence of supernatural beings such as vampires, shape-shifters, were-creatures, fairies and other mythical beings that were considered part of folklore but turn out to actually exist. As Stephen mentions being an avid reader the sci-fi/fantasy novels are not his "go-to genre".  However, as Stephen explains "But when I read the script, I was transfixed," I couldn't believe how brilliant and funny and dark and twisted and odd it was. What ['True Blood' exec producer Alan Ball] created is a framework in which people can talk about relationships." As Season 2 begins we find that Bill and Sookie (Anna Paquin) are very much a couple and despite the miscommunication and arguments that they have (as any other  ordinary couple would) they love each other very deeply and have such a strong connection to one another that the intensity of their passion leaps from the television screen.  Now that Stephen and Anna have confirmed that they are a real-life couple and have been for quite some time the intense sex scenes seem even more scintillating to the audience. "We've grown up as a couple in front of our crew, so I don't think [the intimacy] was ever difficult for them," Moyer candidly offers. "When we have sex in front of them [on set], it's very ordinary and normal. All right, so we have some weird, crazy mud sex, and there's some very odd, weird biting and some odd blood sucking and blood swapping, but ultimately it's a love story. And so when we get home, and it's just the two of us in bed, we kind of miss the crew a little. Do you think that makes us weird?" he asks, laughing. Stephen always demonstrates his wonderful sense of humor and charming personality whether on the set of True Blood, in an interview or when he is out and about in public.    As he mentions most of his encounters with the public are positive and even when confronted with the papparzzi he still presents himself in a positive manner.  However, he states he can understand why some actors react the way they do. "We've had a couple of TMZ moments, but nothing too scary," Stephen Moyer says of the side effects of his "True Blood" fame. "You suddenly understand why Sean Penn hits people a lot." Luckily, most run-ins have been with enthusiastic fans: "I was at the dog park the other day and somebody had named their dog Sookie, and so they asked, 'Can you call my dog in the style of Bill?'" Stephen Moyer is definitely a star to watch for in the upcoming years as his popularity will increase. SOURCE: metro.us (Photo credit:  HBO Inc.)
