TwiCon Moves From Toronto To Ottawa

The vampire convention, TwiCon, scheduled to take place in Toronto from June 25-27, 2010 and in Las Vegas from July 28-August 1, 2010, has announced a change in the Canadian location. The announcement states that the G20 world financial summit will take over the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where TwiCon was scheduled to take place. The G20 summit, which will host the 20 "world leaders and top economic thinkers", is a high security event and will pretty much shut down Toronto's downtown core during those June dates. Lansdowne Park in Ottawa, Ontario will now be the host site for TwiCon and the June 25-27 dates will remain the same. If you've already made arrangements to attend TwiCon in Toronto, there is still good news.
Those who have registered for the Canadian TwiCon will have their conference registration honored in Ottawa; and TwiCon staff currently is working to secure a low-cost room block for those traveling to the event. Those already holding reservations for hotels in Toronto should be able to secure a cancellation at no cost due to the G20 event; and those with other mitigating circumstances should address those directly with TwiCon customer service at registration@twicon.org."
Originally, TwiCon was conceived for fans of the Twilight series, but it has expanded to encompass the celebration of vampire culture for fans of TV shows such as True Blood and Vampire Diaries, as well as popular vampire romance books like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This will be the first time TwiCon will be hosted in Canada. Fans attending both Ottawa (Lansdowne Park) and Las Vegas (Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino) conventions can experience, among other things, mixers a la Fangtasia (True Blood's vampire night club), Twilight's Monte Carlo theme prom, Q&A sessions with cast members from True Blood, Twilight and Vampire Diaries, and other sessions with popular authors of vampire romance books.
