"True Blood" Is Unstoppable

HOLLYWOOD—Last Sunday night we didn't have an original episode of "True Blood," because of the Labor Day holiday. However, on this Sunday night's episode we will see the season finale for season two of the series. Viewers have enjoyed some of the best acting and writing in television history since Alan Ball brought this show to HBO. Fans want to know if Maryann, who is an evil maenad, will finally be killed and who will she be taking to hell with her?

Maryann has possessed so many residents who are running around unable to control their bad behavior and whose eyes are black as coal. Not excluded from the possession is Sheriff Dearborne, played by character actor William Sanderson. Maxine is out of control and son Hoyt's hands are full in trying to contain her madness and desire to go meet up at Maryann's. Jessica's heart is broken and her life in shambles after she lost control of her anger and vampire desires, then bit Maxine on the neck. Tara convinced her mother to help her escape from Sookie and Lafayette's protection in order to go over to Maryann's and save her love Eggs from the maenad who in turn took possession of Tara's mind and soul once again. Now Tara and Eggs are in an upstairs bedroom building a nest for a large-sized egg in the middle of a bed. Fans are wondering if that egg hatches what on earth could it be?

Sam is over at his bar Merlotte's waiting when finally Bill arrives. Sunday night Bill forces Sam to go over to the ceremony in which Maryann has prepared to welcome "the god who comes" and finds a devilish mess on his hands. Will Eric be able to break away from Queen Sophie long enough in order to fly back to Bon Temps to help save Sookie, who is Maryann's top choice to be involved in the ceremony she has planned? Will Tara and Eggs snap out of their trance long enough to save themselves from the demonic powers Maryann has unleashed on them and other residents of the town? Fans did not like the August 30 episode as much as previous episodes. "Time Bomb" was perhaps the best episode of the season, with the arrival of Godric, the ancient vampire who had such a spiritual connection to Eric. Pastor Steve and his slutty wife were sensational in their almost overbearing moral sanctimony. Also, that episode featured Jason, played by Aussie star Ryan Kwanten in one of the best storylines the hunk has had in two seasons. It was his awakening and maturity that was so much fun to viewers, while wondering if the vampires would indeed kill all of the church members in their efforts to save Godric, who had been kidnapped by Pastor Steve and his church, The Fellowship of the Light. "Time Bomb" was an episode that mixed vampires, shape shifter Sam, who early in the episode escaped from Maryann by imprinting on and then turning into an owl in order to fly out of the reach of Maryann who was chasing him in the form of a horned demon and a full ensemble of characters and cast made it very exciting to the viewers. Here's hoping that Sunday night's episode ends similarly to "Time Bomb" in a bang. "The show's fans need that," said Bobby Head. "We need to see a major cliff hanger for the season in order to make up for the last two episodes which were good but not the best Alan Ball has done in the past," said Head. Fans are excited about this week's finale. Elaine Bailey said on the 'True Blood' Facebook page, "I am ready to devour the final hour of 'True Blood's season finale. Sunday can't come soon enough." While earlier in the week, Jamie Diaz stated, "I think I am going through some kind of withdrawal," speaking of her desire for a new episode on Sunday night. Fans seem to want an end to Maryann, who is played by Michelle Forbes, former actor on CBS's longest running drama "Guiding Light." Renee Frerichs summed up the sentiment of many when she said, "I too am sick of the whole Maryann direction the show has taken. The show is suppose to be about Vampires. Enough Maryann Already! [Sic]." Forbes is proof that a very powerful actor playing a villain can be so despised by viewers. From a critics take however, hats off to the actress who has made Maryann someone that fans won't ever forget. Her abilities as an actress are incredibly well formed and so are those of Anna Paquin's, who plays Sookie. Sookie, who is a mind reader finds herself in jeopardy on Sunday night when the character tries to save her family and friends from a maenad who has up until now been unstoppable. The Season Finale is titled, "Beyond Here Lies Nothin." Surely nothing will be the same.
