Carrie Preston Goes Home To Macon For Film & Video Festival

Carrie Preston in MaconTrue Blood's Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler) returned to her hometown of Macon, Ga., on Saturday, Sept. 12, for a question and answer session at the Theatre Macon, where she greeted old friends and made new ones.  Carrie sat onstage in the middle of the set for a current production of On Golden Pond and talked about her career in movies and stage. According to reporters at the event, Carrie:
"Described her most unusual audition and her conviction that stage training was the best preparation for motion pictures."
Afterward, the Macon Film & Video Festival presented Carrie's 2007 movie Lovely By … Surprise on Coleman Hill.  Attendee Mark Ballard of The Telegraph described the event, saying:
"Last weekend my wife and I went to Coleman Hill to watch a film starring Macon's own talented actress Carrie Preston. Carrie was visiting and watched it with us. What a rare opportunity to actually see a movie and its star at the same time. The crowd gathered high atop Macon and watched her movie under the stars on a huge blow-up screen.
Written and directed by Kirt Gunn, Lovely By...Surprise, now available on DVD, was selected as the official selection of film festivals around the United States and has won the Special Jury Prize for New American Cinema at Seattle's International Film Festival as well as the New Filmmaker's Forum Award at the St. Louis International Film Festival.  Carrie stars as Marian Walker, a novelist who is trying to overcome writer's block and finish her first book.
