True Blood's Ryan Kwanten Reveals the Secrets Behind His Perfect Abs!

Get Abs Like True Blood's Ryan Kwanten!

Ryan Kwanten Men's Health MagazineRyan Kwanten spends a lot of time shirtless while playing Jason Stackhouse on HBO's True Blood.  That is definitely motivation to keep your body lean and fit, however Kwanten has always taken pride in keeping active.  He is featured on the cover of Men's Health Weekly for the month of November and in the article he talks about his approach to fitness.

Daily Routine

Kwanten works out 7 days a week for up to 2 1/2 hours a day.  He prefers getting his exercise outdoors as opposed to training in a gym and he also practices yoga regularly.   He works out hard combining biking, running, shadowboxing, anything that is a great cardio workout.  Kwanten applies this work ethic to his entire life, saying:
"I have that sporting background where I want to be the best, I want to be the champion. If I'm knocked down, you're damn sure I'm getting back up again.  A lot of actors who may very well be more talented than me don't have that kind of tenacity in the face of rejection. That resilience gives me a distinct advantage."

Ryan's 20 Minute Ab Secret

When Kwanten is short on time he takes a cue from his character's penchant for the quick & dirty by keeping fit with the following 20-minute workout: Running - 2 minutes Whether indoors, outdoors, or even running in place, this raises your body temperature and readies your heart and muscles for the workout. Push ups - 2 minutes Rest as needed, but don't stop the timer. 30-second Sprints Do 6, and rest for 45 seconds after each one. Planks - 2 minutes Rest as needed, same as the push ups. Supine Jackknives - 2 minutes Starting position: Lie on your back with your legs straight up in the air (effectively forming an "L"), and crunch while reaching for your toes.  Then, keeping them straight, lower your legs to 6 inches off the ground, and bring them back up.  Remember to pause for a 1 or 2 count before each one. Shadowboxing - 4.5 minutes Box like you're in the final round, and the decision could go either way. As fans of the show know it is, Kwanten's hard work has paid off!
