VIDEO: Interview with the True Blood Comic Book Writers

The TV Junkie was lucky enough to get to interview two of the writers of the True Blood comics while at New York Comic Con. He talked with David Tischman and Mariah Huehner (in the HBO store in New York) about the comic and whether or not the series will continue. David and Mariah said that they've written the entire first volume of the True Blood comics (the first six), and that there will be more volumes coming in the future. Those will be released after the current set of six is released in a single hardcover volume that will be available in both comic book stores and book stores. When asked about how the comics tie in the the tv show, David and Mariah agreed that the comics are canon, just like True Blood is, and they said that the medium used allows them to tell stories that True Blood can't because of the frenetic pace. They added that using the comic as a medium can be advantageous for them because they can use art to create things that might look awkward if they were filmed, like the monster in the comics. David and Mariah collaborated with Alan Ball and the True Blood writing team while working on the comics in order to ensure that the characterizations of Bill, Sookie, Eric, and everyone else would be accurate as their stories were told. There was a bit more said in the interview, so watch the video and enjoy! Submission thanks to: The TV Junkie Got a True Blood related tip? Submit it here!
