True Blood Nominated For A WGA Award

wga_awardThe Writers Guild of America, West and the Writers Guild of America, East today announced nominations for outstanding achievement in television, radio, news, promotional writing, and graphic animation during the 2009 season and True Blood has been nominated! True Blood has been nominated in the EPISODIC DRAMA – any length – one airing time category for Episode 2.09 "I Will Rise Up" written by Nancy Oliver for HBO.  This episode is remembered for several key points: the explosion at Godric's home, Sookie being tricked into drinking Eric's blood and subsequently being connected to him and the beginnings of her attraction to him, Sookie's dream of her and Eric in bed together, and perhaps the memorable scene, Godric on the rooftop of the hotel building to meet the sun and his ultimate self-destruction. Although True Blood did not get nominated in the category for "Drama Series" it is wonderful to see that it is getting some form of recognition from the establishment. Here is a list of all the nominees in the category: EPISODIC DRAMA – any length – one airing time
