Anna Paquin Film The Romantics Selected for Sundance Film Festival

fe73b449e7fe4552_romanticsAnna Paquin's upcoming film, The Romantics, seems like good practice for real life! As she thinks about what she might want for her own wedding to True Blood costar and fiance, Stephen Moyer, she portrayed a character preparing for her wedding. The movie, which is being compared to the 1983 Kevin Kline film, The Big Chill, tells the story of a group of college friends who are reunited for a weekend to celebrate the marriage of Lila and Tom, played by Anna and Josh Duhamel. However, old feelings reemerge between the groom and the maid of honor, Laura (Katie Holmes). Also starring in the film are Elijah Wood, Adam Brody, Malin Akerman, and Candice Bergen. Anna and the rest of the cast seemed to have really enjoyed themselves while filming seaside in Southold, NY. The Romantics has been selected for the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, one of the most important cinematic events of the year when critics and people from the entertainment industry gather for ten days to watch and talk about movies. Small, independent films get the chance to make an impression before awards season, and new talent is often discovered. The festival takes place from January 21-31, 2010, in Park City, Utah. This year, 200 films were chosen for exhibition from more than 9,000 submissions. The program offers dramatic films, documentaries, and short films, as well as panel discussions with the filmmakers and actors. The Romantics, which was written and directed by Galt Niederhoffer, will be one of 14 films screened at Peery's Egyptian Theater. It is scheduled for 9:30pm MST on January 30. There is no general US release date scheduled at this point. SOURCES: standard.net festival.sundance.org imdb.com (Photo credit: popsugar.com)
