Kristin Bauer - Celeb-Vocate On Whale Preservation

True Blood's Kristin Bauer spoke in Washington DC today (Earthday - April 22, 2010) to attempt to educate lawmakers on the subject of commercial whaling. In an interview with POLITICO.com, Kristin acknowledged that she's well aware that actors are not Ph.D.'s and they take on the role as "celeb-vocates".  Comparing being an actress with being a politician, Kristin stated they are similar.
"The public thinks acting is being on the red carpet and talking on television.  But it's actually about being on set for countless hours, getting along with enormous amounts of people and auditioning and getting hired and getting fired.  And the job of being politician is not even related to the job of getting the job.  What politicians present is not how it works, and that's exactly the same with acting. When I see a politician giving a speech, it's scripted, it's written by someone else and they look at polls to figure out what would go over well."
Joining forces with the International Fund for Animal Welfare, Greenpeace and the Humane Society to advocate saving the whales, Kristin believes her lobbying on Capitol Hill and meeting with Representatives Paul Ryan, Bill Delahunt and Howard Berman should work in her favor since they have so much in common.
