True Blood Season 3 Spoiler: James Frain Explains Franklin Mott

With a plethora of new characters coming on HBO's True Blood this season, TVGuide.com took the initiative to ask James Frain about his character, vampire Franklin Mott. Initially, Frain did not know much about the novels, but was familiar with the show. As for his character, he says Franklin Mott is a private eye working for Russell, the vampire King of Mississippi (played by Denis O'Hare). While digging up info on Bill, he becomes a little distracted by Tara. But TVGuide wants to know if Franklin's legitimately  interested or if he's just using Tara? We all know the difficult time she's having.
"It's kind of a spoiler. That's the question of the first few episodes on whether he likes her. I think he really likes her, but I don't know that guys like Franklin have the same idea of what like means like the rest of us do. I think the better word is obsessed. That's what we start to discover."
Speaking of, what's with everybody's obsession with Bill this season?
"For Franklin, Bill is just a job, so he's no more interested in Bill than any of his other assignments, but there are lots of unanswered questions about Bill, so Franklin will focus on getting the information on why he's there, what he's doing, and whether he doesn't have ulterior motives."
Oooh. And other than Tara, Frain said that Franklin has some interesting interaction with Jason as well. Frain also concludes with some hints about how the season will play out.
"It's heading toward some kind of confrontation between those who claim to represent the vampires. There are two different camps that emerge between who the vampires are, who they can be and whether it really is sustainable to live alongside human beings. That's the arc of the season."
Sounds complicated. In an exciting way, of course. Source: seattlepi.com/TVGuide (Photo Source: IMDb.com)
